Bled and Bohinj are two magnificent alpine resorts located on the sunny side of the Alps. Both are known because of their typical lakes and breathtaking views. Bohinj with the biggest lake in Slovenia and Bled with the lake with the island – the symbol of Slovenian tourism. The peaceful lakes and booming waterfalls, deep gorges and silent pools, timid animals and luxurious alpine flowers, impressive creations of nature and majestic natural phenomena. The beauty of the mountains reflected on the lake, the sun, the serenity and the fresh air arouse pleasant feelings in visitors throughout the year.
Start the morning at Vintgar Gorge*, a remarkable ravine located in Triglav National Park, carved into the rock by pristine green waters of Radovna River. Spend 1.5 hours walking through the picturesque gorge on a trail and boardwalks that zigzag above the river bed.
Discover the alpine beauty of Bled and its surroundings on this tour from Ljubljana. You'll have the chance to see Lake Bled with its tiny island before heading to Triglav National Park, where you'll take a panoramic drive across the Pokljuka plateau at an elevation of 3,600 feet (1,100 meters). Admire scenery of the Julian Alps, see old shepherds' cottages, and check out Lake Bohinj.
Unspoilt nature at the foot of the Alps!
We’ll start today’s fairytale at Lake Bohinj, the largest natural lake of glacial origin in Slovenia. Maybe Bohinj lacks Bled’s glamour, but it’s less crowded and in many ways more authentic. We are going to follow the main tributary river Savica, through unspoilt forests of NP Triglav, taking us up to magical Waterfall Savica, very unique one among world waterfalls – its watercourse is divided into two parts in the hidden undergrounds. The famous A-shaped waterfall normally comes into sight at an altitude of 836 m and is 78 m high.
At Bled time for picture stop, time permitted!
