Things to do in Moab
Welcome to Moab
The city of Moab in eastern Utah is one of the most popular destinations for outdoors adventurers, serving as a base for exploring two national parks: Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. Dead Horse Point State Park overlooking the Colorado River, and La Sal Mountains, which are in national forest land, are also nearby.

Top 14 attractions in Moab
Hell's Revenge Trail
4,140
Experience one of nature’s roller coaster rides, Hell’s Revenge Trail. Set in a desert canyon outside of Moab, the off-roading track crawls over slick rocks, along cliff faces, and up and down near-vertical terrain. Between rock-crawling adventures, stop to take in views stretching from Arches National Park to La Sal Mountains.More
Arches National Park
3,297
The eroded red rock wonderland of Arches National Park houses more than 2,000 natural stone arches, the densest concentration in the world. Geological marvels abound—here you’ll find hundreds of soaring pinnacles, the iconic Delicate Arch, and Landscape Arch, the largest natural arch in the world at 290 feet (88 meters) across.More
Colorado River
6,647
The Colorado River is a spectacular sight to see, meandering for 1,447 miles (2,330 kilometers) with red rocks and canyons framing it on both sides, leading up to the Hoover Dam. The Colorado River is one of the major water sources for California and Nevada, and, not surprisingly, it's a major recreational destination—activities on the river include hiking, biking, rafting, and boating.More
Dead Horse Point State Park
1,088
The swooping view of the Colorado River from Dead Horse Point is iconic, but there’s much more to this desert park than a single overlook. A network of trails here ranges from intermediate mountain biking to wheelchair-accessible pavement, with scenic overlooks, shade shelters, and interpretive signs throughout.More
Canyonlands National Park
1,226
Set in the high desert of the American Southwest, Canyonlands National Park comprises 337,598 acres (136,621 hectares) of rugged landscape divided into four distinct districts by the Green and Colorado rivers. Deep craters, towering rock spires, white cliffs, and majestic buttes dominate the landscape of Utah’s largest national park.More
Mill Canyon Dinosaur Trail
1,381
Walk past the fossilized remains of dinosaurs at this short path west of Arches National Park, where you’ll find evidence of allosaurus, stegosaurus, camarasaurus, and camptosaurus. Trail-side signs here describe the dinosaurs that once roamed this region, and how their bones and footprints came to be frozen into the Utah sandstone.More
Fisher Towers
2,203
These rosy fingers of sandstone jut skyward from the Utah desert, drawing crowds of photographers, hikers, and expert rock climbers. The Colorado River rushes through scenic Castle Valley, where the spires are located, and the Fisher Tower section of the river is a popular destination for white-water rafting. More
Corona Arch
1,103
Visitors agree that the Corona Arch is one of Red Rock Country’s most spectacular sites. With its swoop of natural sandstone that stretches up towards a thrilling mountain pass, Corona Arch proves a highlight for travelers to the Moab area. The technical trail, which scales smooth rock walls and requires a ladder and cable to ascend, is a difficult but doable adventure that grants visitors epic views and a hard-earned sense of accomplishment. More adventurous travelers and daredevil outdoorsmen can repel from the top of Corona Arch in what can only be described as a serious natural rush. But a visit to this popular destination is still worthwhile for the faint of heart who prefer to take in beautiful views of the arch from the ground up.More
Utah Scenic Byway 279 Rock Art Sites
1,406
Ancient people in the Utah desert produced rock art for thousands of years, painting or inscribing images into the boulders and cliffs. A handful of important rock art sites are located along Highway 279, a Utah Scenic Byway outside of Moab. With easy site access and a gorgeous setting, this is a great place to start exploring rock art.More
Westwater Canyon
970
Up a gorge of the Colorado River and between red sandstone cliff walls, Westwater Canyon is one of the best spots for experiencing white-water rapids near Moab. Running 17 miles and crossing the Colorado-Utah state border, there are pools and streams for both beginning and advanced rafting levels. There are 10 class III-IV rapids for experienced whitewater rafters. Journeys through the canyon vary from 1,200 foot high canyon walls to black rock cliffs and rapids through gorges, and stops ashore can include exploration of caves, historic cabins, Indian petroglyphs, and some of the oldest geographic layers in the world.Great Blue Herons, river otters, and bald eagles can also be spotted. The canyon is remote and often serene (when the water is calm) and the variety of scenery and speed makes this is an easy spot to see a lot in a short amount of time.More
Cataract Canyon
533
Two of Utah’s mightiest rivers—the Green River and the Colorado River—converge just above this scenic gorge, which cuts through Canyonlands National Park. Gorgeous red rock formations soar from water that’s often brown with sediment, and the river churns through a mix of flat water and rapids that go from Class III to Class V.More
Green River
55
With fewer than 1,000 residents, Green River could easily be a sleepy town with little to do or see. But visitors say this quiet community on the banks of the nearby Green River, is actually home to some of Utah’s best attractions, making it well worth a visit. Adrenaline junkies can raft their way through white water rapids on guided tours of the roaring river, while history buffs can venture into the past at the John Wesley Powell River History Museum. The unique rock formations at nearby Goblin Valley provide scenic terrain to explore on foot and the Black Dragon Canyon Trail offers visitors a chance to take in the beautiful mountain scenery on one of the area’s most epic trails.More
La Sal Mountains
4
The La Sal Mountains are Utah’s second highest mountain range with nine peaks surpassing 12,000 feet. Their diverse terrain, impressive views and sky-high summits make La Sal Mountains the ideal place for travelers looking to boulder, ice climb, hike, scramble or go canyoneering.La Sal’s level 2 and 3 climbs attract intrepid travelers year-round, but visitors agree the steep mountain passes may be too technical for novice wanderers. Many of the trails that lead to 12,000 feet peaks require an ice axe to navigate—even in July! The cooling natural pools and quiet waterfalls of Mill Creek, Negro Bill Canyon and Professor Creek canyons make them popular with hikers during warmer months. And because La Sal Mountains are contained almost entirely on public land, visitors can camp almost anywhere before heading out on an early morning climb.More

Sand Flats Recreation Area
0
No-frills camping and incredible scenery are just part of what makes this 9,000-acre recreation area a destination for families traveling to Utah. Sand Flats Recreation Area is home to some of the state’s most pristine hiking trails and intense mountain bike paths. And while the protected area is easily accessible from Moab, travelers say part of its charm comes from feeling miles away from civilization. In addition to reveling in panoramic views of wide mountain spaces, visitors can voyage out on two wheels along the Slickrock Bike Trail. The pass’s challenging level 4 descents and technical terrain make it a destination for daredevils. Nearby Porcupine Rim Trail offers travelers a chance to explore on two feet, though visitors warn the rocky cliffs are best left to fit adventurers.More

Navtec Expeditions is awesome.
When you call for ANYTHING, no one there can speak clear English.
I would absolutely recommend Navtec Expeditions in Moab UT. I would advise that you book directly with them Viator is AWFUL! When you call for ANYTHING, no one there can speak clear English. VERY difficult to understand the agents. Probably not US based. I sure won’t use them again….

Worth all the $, go!!
Mick was a great tour guide, very knowledgeable, and we were able to see many famous arches in half a day.
We were recommended to do an off-roading tour in Moab by our friends & were so happy that we did! Mick was a great tour guide, very knowledgeable, and we were able to see many famous arches in half a day. The entire off-roading experience with something that we would not be able to do without the tour, would highly recommend! If you’re thinking about it, don’t think, just go!

EPIC
Overall 10 out of 10, would recommend this trip to anyone wanting to see Moab and have a blast wheeling at the same time.
Epic trip, and Landon was an excellent guide, the equipment was clean and in great shape. The SXS’s rented through here are on a completely different level than a standard SXS, I’ve been wheeling for 30yrs and that thing was beyond capable of taking on anything in its way. Overall 10 out of 10, would recommend this trip to anyone wanting to see Moab and have a blast wheeling at the same time.

Breathtaking and Exciting Adventure!
You’ll never get to see this stuff on your own.
The rappelling adventure with Nate (our guide) was the highlight of our trip to Moab/Arches! Rappelling down a 120 foot cliff right next to a natural bridge was breathtaking! You’ll never get to see this stuff on your own. Our 11 y/o and 18 y/o daughters absolutely loved it!!! We will absolutely do this again!!!

Spectacular views.
This is the best way to see all of Moab
Jon was a great pilot. We definitely recommend flying first thing in the morning, the sun is out and hits the canyons and rocks beautifully. Our flight was at 9:00 am. This is the best way to see all of Moab

Amazing tour!!
He grew up in Moab so he knew the history of the area and also had in depth knowledge about rock formation, what to see and lots of stories about the area.
Ben was an amazing tour guide. He grew up in Moab so he knew the history of the area and also had in depth knowledge about rock formation, what to see and lots of stories about the area. He was funny too. We felt like we learned and saw so much more than if we had been on our own

This was one of the most fun things I have ever done and I am 67 years old! My wife and i both drove and we had a blast! I highly recommend this tour! Swaim, our guide, did a great job and even sang happy birthday to two ladies in our group in his native Navajo language. Amazing thing that you do not want to miss while in Moab!

Amazing off-roading experience
You see parts of the park that not many visitors get to see and avoid some of the crowds.
Our guide for the day, Phil, was extremely knowledgeable and full of interesting facts about Arches, other surrounding parks, and the city of Moab. We had an amazing time and would highly recommend this tour as a break from hiking in the heat. You see parts of the park that not many visitors get to see and avoid some of the crowds.

Petroglyph Tour
I will encourage friends and families to visit Moab and enjoy this outing.
Sean Paul is Moab's expert on petroglyphs. He took us to several areas where we saw and learned about this early communication method used by our Native American forfathers. He is able to engage younger travels by introducing Moki ball, marbles, and some climbing.
I will encourage friends and families to visit Moab and enjoy this outing.

Depends on what you are looking for
Beautiful views and fun to see Moab from the Colorado!
This float would be great for a family with kiddos or older people who want to be on the water but not have to be physical. My husband and I were hoping for more activity instead of just sitting in the boat. There’s only 4 areas of class 1/2 rapids (but we did go in July) so most of the 7ish miles are spent at a leisure pace while your guide does all of the paddling. Our guide, Spencer, made the trip. He was super professional and had a ton of history and information to share, which really made the trip for us. Beautiful views and fun to see Moab from the Colorado!

Great day trip on the river with Zach!
I would recommend this excursion to anyone traveling through the area and looking for something to do and a good way to see the area.
Fabulous day spent on the river with Zach and Paddle Moab. We had a great time, got a little wet, we were a little sore the next day, saw some wonderful scenery and great wildlife. I would recommend this excursion to anyone traveling through the area and looking for something to do and a good way to see the area. (Lunch provided was also very good!)
Thanks Zach for a great day!
