Montmartre

Paris, Ile-de-France

The Basics

Montmartre is included in many city sightseeing tours alongside other top attractions, which are great options for time-pressed travelers in Paris. For a more in-depth look at Montmartre, select an experience tailored to your interests, such as a Montmartre food tour or an art-themed walking tour. For nighttime fun, head to a cabaret show at the Moulin Rouge, located down the hill in Pigalle. Of course, Montmartre can also be visited independently.

A lovely tour that provides you with the history of the Montmartre neighborhood in Paris. The tour is just the right length of time and our tour guide, Audrey, was excellent.

Montmartre Hill Sweet & Savory French Gourmet Food & Wine Tasting Tour
We shared our tour with five other Americans and were led by Fabian, a very excellent tour guide. He lives in Montmartre and is very knowledgeable about the history of the area and all of its special places. The food stops were at historic bakeries, chocolatier, and a wonderful cheese shop with sit down for different cheeses and two delicious wines. Fabian was a great pleasure to be with and we gladly recommend him and this tour.

Montmartre Walking Tour: Paris' Best Art, Culture and Food
Our guide was from Spain but had a clear love for the Republic of Montmartre. She was passionate and knowledgeable and also curious when we asked questions. I got the feeling she was going to learn more as soon as the tour ended.

Montmartre Hill Sweet & Savory French Gourmet Food & Wine Tasting Tour
My husband and I did the Montmartre food tour with Fabian. He was an amazing guide. He included the history of the city and did a wonderful job of explaining the foods and drinks we experienced. We enjoyed each stop even more than the one before and had a nice mix of pastry, sweets, wine, and cheese. Fabian answered our questions and was very friendly and humorous. I would highly recommend this tour (and if you are lucky, you will have Fabian as your guide)!

Discover Paris: Hidden Montmartre Tour
Ellie was our fun, effervescent tour guide who shared lots of history and interesting tidbits about Montmartre. The time flew by and before we knew it, we were at the Sacré Cœur. Despite cold rainy weather we had a great time. Kudos to Ellie, our American tour guide in Paris!

Tour guide Stan was fantastic! He knew all the best places and with a history background combined with being a lifelong resident he had a unique perspective. Highly recommend. We would’ve not tried or found many of these places and foods otherwise!

Montmartre Hill Sweet & Savory French Gourmet Food & Wine Tasting Tour
Our guide Mathais was awesome, he is from the area and had great insight and information. The food was great, I wish there had been a little more savory, but the sweet was wonderful. Be prepared to walk! But the walking was worth it!!!

Montmartre can be easily reached from across Paris. Climb the hill on foot, ride the funicular to the base of Sacré-Coeur, or opt for the photo-friendly staircases. Visit Paris' Only Working Vineyard

Less of a secret than it used to be but still an interesting hidden gem, Le Clos Montmartre is the only working vineyard in Paris. Set on the slopes of the hill, north of Place du Tertre, the vines were originally planted to defend the area from property development and are owned by the city. Catching a glimpse of the vineyard offers a nice respite from Montmartre’s crowds and while it’s not open to the general public, you can book a tour.
