The Basics

Officially the largest municipal building in the US, City Hall is a highlight on a number of Philadelphia walking, minivan, and bus tours. City Hall is also a stop on a hop-on hop-off sightseeing double-decker bus.

Casual passersby can admire the building, especially its Second Empire edifice bearing impressive sculptures by Alexander Milne Calder, creator of the William Penn statue on its spire. Dilworth Park, located at the building’s base and added during a 2014 renovation, is a pleasant place to pause and catch your breath. Tours of the building’s interior are also available; tickets are based on 15-minute timed intervals and can be purchased online or at the venue. It’s also possible to book a guided tower tour and ascend to the observation deck located just below the William Penn statue.

So fun!
This tour was truly a blast! We got off to a rocky start due to a scheduling conflict, therefore our guide was a little late. No worries though because they had some other people come and entertain us. Once on the road, we had a great time. Tim was funny and knowledgeable. They even threw in a restroom pit stop, which was much needed!

So fun! Wonderful guides on each bus. I enjoyed the focus on historical fact and their humor in presenting information as well as the attention to customer service, kindness, and safety.
The tour was a little too fast to take it all in.

Very accommodating as we had a person in a wheelchair. Only issue was second driver did not stop at all stops or ask if we wanted to stop so ended up having to walk 20 blocks back to hotel.

Henry was a very knowledgeable tour guide with a great sense of humor. Our driver, April, did a wonderful job of navigating through all the traffic. We had a fun time and highly recommend this tour.

The experience was fantastic, this is the best way to visit Philadelphia if you are in town for the day. On the top deck, you can take pictures of the city without the crowd being on the way and the stops were very convenient if you want to hop-off and explore the attraction up close. The guide was terrific, with tremendous knowledge about the history of the city.
