When to visit
This tropical island is a popular spring break destination and hits its sweet spot—with fabulous weather, a lively atmosphere, and still-manageable crowds—in April and May. The island is also an inviting retreat for the winter holidays, as December temperatures rarely fall below 80° F (27° C). Maskanoo, a street festival held every December 26th, draws visitors with food, music, and a parade. On New Year’s Eve, hotels and resorts celebrate with fireworks displays.
Getting around
Providenciales is home to the only international airport in Turks and Caicos. It can also be reached by private boat, though cruise ships do not dock here, due to the nearby reef. The island does not have public transportation, so you’ll need to rent a car or a scooter to explore; just remember traffic here keeps left. The local ride hailing app, Conch Cabs, is also reliable and covers the eastern half of the island; have cash on hand as drivers do not take credit cards.
