Aquafan Riccione
Beat the summer heat at Aquafan, one of the most famous water parks in Italy. With almost 2 miles (3 km) of slides, as well as rapids, a wave pool, and kiddie areas, there are enough attractions to keep the entire family entertained for a few hours or a full day.
The Basics
The resort town of Riccione on the Adriatic coast is a popular family destination, and the Aquafan water park draws a crowd. Beloved for its high-octane Black Hole and Strizzacool water slides and Extreme River rapids, the park also has a wave pool and tamer attractions like a lazy river and a baby beach for smaller tots. The park aims to please all ages with a dozen slides and pools, three children’s areas, DJ sets, an acquagym, and a range of dining options.
Lines to enter can be long, so purchase tickets in advance to head straight to the splashy attractions and activities inside. Aquafan is adjacent the Oltremare marine park, and you can purchase combined tickets to enter both.
Things to Know Before You Go
The slides and attractions at Aquafan are color coded based on minimum height requirements.
Bring a swimsuit, towel, swim cap, and sunscreen; there are locker rooms to change and store your belongings.
The park is accessible to wheelchair users, but the slides and a few other water attractions are not.
More than a dozen eateries, from snack bars to self-serve restaurants, serve food and drinks.
Rent beach chairs for an extra charge at a number of lawn areas.
How to Get There
By car, take the A14 highway to the Riccione exit and follow signs to Aquafan. Otherwise, take the train to Riccione, and then bus 58 to the Oltremare-Aquafan stop.
When to Get There
The park is open daily from June to mid-September but can be crowded on summer weekends. Opt to visit on a weekday to avoid long lines at the most popular slides.
Oltremare
Located next to Aquafan, Oltremare is Italy’s most famous marine park and features a large dolphin lagoon, as well as other marine ecosystem exhibits, a butterfly pavilion, parrots and birds of prey, and a rope course and water ride. Bundle your visit to both parks to maximize your time spent in Riccone.
