Ferry Plaza Farmers Market

The Embarcadero at Market Street, San Francisco, California, 94111

The Basics

Located on San Francisco’s Embarcadero, the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market is a picturesque escape from the bustle of city life, whether you want to peruse the colorful stalls, tuck into meals from local food trucks and sit-down restaurants, or just grab coffee and enjoy panoramic views of San Francisco Bay. The gourmet action continues inside the adjacent Ferry Building, where local shops sell foraged wild mushrooms, gold-leafed chocolates, and sustainably farmed Marin County oysters, among other treats.

For a deep-dive into the market’s culinary scene, explore on a food-tasting tour with an expert guide. Travelers can also rent a bike to explore San Francisco’s waterfront, or combine a farmers market food tour with a visit to Alcatraz Island, home of the prison that once held America’s most notorious criminals.

Fun for everyone!
Tori was our tour guide and she was so knowledgeable and friendly. We had such a wonderful time. Our 12 and 16 year olds loved the experience just as much as my husband and I. Not only did Tori take us to the great foodie spots, she also gave us a history lesson on the Ferry Building and Farmers Market. Some of the treats we had: breads, cheeses, fresh seasonal fruit, and chocolate. Highly recommend this tour! Be sure to come hungry :)

San Francisco Food Tour: Ferry Building and Ferry Plaza Farmers Market
So many wonderfully delicious places in the Ferry Building!! But I had to return to Acme Bread Company after the tour and purchase their Edible Schoolyard Loaf. On tour I tried a fabulous Apple Turnover and some of their Sour Baguette with Cowgirl Creamery Mt Tam and Red Hawk, The Impossible Burgers were delicious from Gott’s Roadside, definitely would eat again, Cholita Linda offered a fabulous Fish Taco! Rebecca Sibrack was a knowledgeable and fun tour guide, Thank You!

San Francisco Food Tour: Ferry Building and Ferry Plaza Farmers Market
Rebecca was amazing and awesome. She knew so much about the food industry. Highly recommend it. It was great because the ferry building was very little walking. So easy for people like me with a hip problem.
