Seven Canyons
The Basics
Rachel’s Knoll is inside Seven Canyons, which comprises both the golf course and adjacent gated residential neighborhoods with high-end rental townhomes. It sits at the edge of private land: non-golfers can pass through for a small fee or visit on vortex sightseeing tours out of Sedona, which claim the area has particularly strong spiritual energy. Access to the golf course is exclusive to members, their guests, or guests staying in the course’s townhomes.
Things to Know Before You Go
- To visit Rachel’s Knoll, ask the attendant at the main gate, where an entrance fee is required.
- Amenities for golf course guests include the 18-hole course, “teeing” practice area, gym, pool, locker rooms, the golf shop, and a restaurant.
- Membership rates aren’t published to the public—inquire online or by phone.
How to Get There
The golf course lies 15 minutes north of Sedona by car. Take State Route 89A through West Sedona and turn right at Dry Creek Road; heading north, it will turn into Boynton Pass Road. Continue and turn right on Long Canyon Road—pass the Long Canyon trailhead and you’re just about there.

When to Get There
Sedona is a year-round destination with as many as 300 days of sunshine a year.. However, spring and fall are the best times to get outdoors as the temperatures are milder. Summer is hot, but there are fewer crowds, while winter temps can reach below freezing. The private course is technically open 24 hours a day, but closed to the public. Rachel’s Knoll is unofficially open during working hours.
Where to Find Sedona’s Energy Vortexes
A capital of New Age spirituality, Sedona is thought to house major energy vortexes, spirals of energy said to help with healing, meditation, and self-exploration. Three vortexes are south of the city at the Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock, and Airport Mesa rock formations. A fourth, called Boynton Pass Vortex, is just northeast of the trailhead at Boynton Canyon Trail. The vortexes are said to hold different types of energy, with some radiating toward the earth and others skyward—they also make fantastic hiking destinations.
