Ways to visit Versailles Gardens (Jardins de Versailles)

The gardens of Versailles are famous for their spectacular musical fountain shows and evening fireworks displays, held throughout the summer months.

Most visitors opt to discover Versailles on a half-day tour from Paris. With wait times lasting up to two hours, it’s worth booking skip-the-line entrance tickets if you plan to visit both the palace and gardens. You can explore the gardens on a self-guided tour, but visiting with a tour guide can be helpful if you have limited time or want to learn more about their history.

Versailles Palace Live Tour with Gardens Access from Paris
Check in was easy, bus ride smooth and clean, tour guide Melina was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We could not see the gardens due to an evaluation. Get A Guide and then Viator refunded the garden portion. Bus wasn't available to leave early so left the tour (after garden evacuation) and rode the RER back to Paris.

Versailles Palace Guided Tour with Skip the Line Access from Paris
We had a wonderful and knowledgeable guide and the bus was clean and comfortable. The small group was very nice but there were a lot of young kids in our group, which was strange as we were three adults. Otherwise, top notch. We walked straight to the entrance and past a huge line.

Versailles Bike Tour with Palace Timed Entry Ticket & Marie-Antoinette's Domain
it was June 4 and we had an incredibly beautiful day. Getting out of congested, Paris city and finding ourselves in an open air market to select fresh fruits, cheeses, and meats and wine for a picnic and then loading them into a saddle bag on our bike and riding through the palace grounds, which is like basically the French countryside was magical. The palace was magnificent, one day is not enough! Would definitely go back and do it all over again

Perfect Versailles Tour: GolfCart + Bike + Lunch + Tickets
Nima and assistant were first rate tour guides. Incredible, really. Bikes and golf carts were great way to see the expansive gardens and summer houses. Guides were very personable, willing to answer any and all questions and just fun. Book it! I just wish we could have taken them into the palace! FYI, transportation was great, but there's still significant amount of walking - it's a massive place.
Informative tour of Palace and some time to enjoy garden and fountains.

Versailles Palace Guided Tour from Paris with Optional Gardens & Fountain Show
It was amazing to see the opulence of the Palace and we enjoyed hearing some of the history from our enthusiastic guide Andre. We were impressed by his ability to direct the group in a crowded, chaotic environment.

An interesting tour, the place is charming, the gardens are wonderful, but the number of visitors to the place weighs on the experience, try to arrive in the morning.

Versailles Bike Tour with Market, Gardens & Guided Palace Tour
Joe was our guide and he did an excellent job explaining the history of Versailles and guiding us through the town. The stop at the markets was really fun- we found some amazing strawberries and charcuterie and had a lovely picnic by the gardens. Really fun day! I recommend this to anyone who wants to see the best of Versailles!

Versailles Palace & Garden Tour w. Skip The Line Entry from Paris
Our tour guide Carolina was excellent! She was knowledgeable, patient, and funny! I highly recommend her tour! However, Versailles was incredibly crowded, and it made it very difficult to even move through the palace. I would look into the best times to visit.

Versailles Palace & Gardens Skip-the-line Guided Tour
Hiromi was an excellent guide. She got us through the crowds fairly easily and she knew her history. Good thing she had a mike though as it was loud with all the people. We had originally scheduled an earlier all day tour with a bike involved but were unable to do it because my husband hurt his back just before the trip. This was a great second although later in the day and more crowds.

Giverny and Versailles Palace Audio Guided Day Trip with Lunch from Paris
A lovely tour but be prepared for the crowds especially at Monet'shouse and within the Palace. Gardens were stunning at both places and the lunch and setting exceptional. Guide was lovely and knowledgeable.

When to visit Versailles Gardens (Jardins de Versailles)

The Versailles Château Gardens are open year-round, but by far the most popular time to visit is in high season (April to October) when Musical Fountains Shows, Musical Gardens, and Fountains Night Shows take place. On show days an admission fee is charged, and it’s best to visit early in the morning or just before closing to avoid the busiest periods. Visiting in low season means smaller crowds, but for conservation purposes the fountains are switched off, the groves are closed, and many of the statues are covered.
