The Basics

Reynisfjara Beach is a common stop-off on South Iceland day tours from Reykjavik, which typically combine a visit to Reynisfjara with trips to other nearby destinations, such as Skaftafell National Park, Sólheimajökull glacier, Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, Seljalandsfoss waterfall, and Skógafoss waterfall.

Multi-day tours from the capital also tend to combine south shore attractions with sights around the Reykjanes Peninsula, Golden Circle, Borgarfjörður valley, and Snæfellsnes Peninsula.

2-Day Tour: Blue Ice Cave, Jokulsarlon, Black Beach, and Waterfalls
This tour was the highlight of our trip to Iceland. We were able to see many places in one go. The Ice cave and the black beach were incredible. Definitely recommend this tour. Our guide, JK was diligent and quite helpful. He made sure we follow all the safety instructions. I fell sick once the reached the hotel on the day 1 and he was quite active in getting me the help I needed. You can rely on the tour for a safe and enjoyable experience.

2-Day Tour: Blue Ice Cave, Jokulsarlon, Black Beach, and Waterfalls
We had a fantastic time on this tour with good weather, good luck on the northern lights, and careful planning of our guide Michel. He adjusted our itinerary based on weather so that we could see the waterfalls on a sunny day and also showed us a couple of extra stops. We saw many beautiful waterfalls, walked on a glacier and went into an ice cave, and were very lucky to see some really beautiful northern lights while staying at the hotel overnight. Highly recommend!

2-Day South Coast Tour | Golden Circle, South Coast & Black Beach
We got a true Iceland experience during our two-day tour! Black sand beach was amazing to see in the snow; the glacier was spectacular; the Geysir impressive… there was a lot packed in the short time. We stayed in Sellfoss overnight and the hotel and our view from the room was jaw-dropping- we also saw the Northern Lights from here too! Axel & Marea were friendly and energetic guides; a huge TAKK to them! Highly recommended tour-

2-Day Tour: Blue Ice Cave, Jokulsarlon, Black Beach, and Waterfalls
What a wonderful and unique experience! The glacier walk to the blue ice cave was so unique; the waterfalls were amazing. Christina was the best tour guide I’ve ever had - she was very knowledgeable, managed to squeeze in several extra stops on our tour, and helped us out during the excursions and took wonderful pictures. Highly recommended - the highlight of our trip!

The two-day tour with Eythor was fantastic. Despite adverse weather conditions, he chose the best way to allow us to enjoy them the most. The attractions are truly unique. Eythor's guide during the long driving hours was always interesting and entertaining. Highly recommended

2-Day South Coast Tour | Golden Circle, South Coast & Black Beach
Both days of the tour had several interesting stops, especially all beautiful waterfalls. My favourite though was the additional stop ar lighthouse with breathtaking views. Our guide Jonas was the best noticing everybody and taking care of people’s safety and comfort as well. Great stories and info of each sight.

BEST DECISION I MADE

2-Day Tour: Blue Ice Cave, Jokulsarlon, Black Beach, and Waterfalls
This is a do not miss trip. Jonas is the BEST guide. Small group of around 15 guests which is perfect for 2 days together in a sprinter van. There was a snow storm so our days were flipped a little but it was a seamless transition. The accommodations were warm and welcoming. As a solo female travel I felt so incredibly comfortable. From being picked up, to the accommodations, and everything in between.

2-Day Tour: Blue Ice Cave, Jokulsarlon, Black Beach, and Waterfalls
The ice caves were definitely the highlight of the excursion. Once in a lifetime experience. Our guide, can't remember his first name, but I believe his last name was Ragnarson, was excellent. He made everyone on the bus feel comfortable and made great recommendations. By the end of it, the whole bus was saying, "YAY."

When to Get There

Reynisfjara Beach is recognized for its dramatic beauty. Summer is perhaps the best time to come here, with long, lingering sunsets and sunrises providing ideal lighting conditions for photographers. This is also the best time to view birds in the nearby cliffs. Don’t expect to sunbathe, even in summer, as winds are strong here year-round.
