Our slogging gang is looking for new recruits, so join Edward Shelby, a distant cousin of the real-life Birmingham gang, as he shows you around the city and teaches you the ropes of being a gang member in the late 19th century. Find out what it was like to walk in the streets the slogging gangs ruled at night and explore parts of the city not covered on our daytime tour. How did the gangs use the canals? How did alcohol add to the gang problem. What did the city do to try to control it? On this tour, you will discover the answers and experience five unique drinking establishments, from real ale pubs to gin palaces and cocktail bars. Participate in some fun activities, such as drinking games and a pub quiz, while learning about the impact of gangs and alcohol on the city. Our night tour is perfect for hen and stag nights, birthdays, team-building events, or a great way to meet new people. Private tours are available for ten or more people on request and are subject to availability.

Learn to bake scones and other treats for a classic afternoon tea during a baking class near Shakespeare's house. The class takes place in a charming cottage near the town center, and includes scones and other snacks served with tea or coffee, and a glass of sparkling wine. You might make brownies, sweet and savory scones, and jam from organic ingredients. You’ll also be provided with recipes and scones to take with you.

On our food tour, our own gangster, Edward Shelby, will show you Birmingham's diverse culture and ethnic cuisines and the impact immigration has had on the city. Hear about the Italian mob, and real life gang members, Billy Kimber and Alfie Solomon. Find out how gangs differed from their portrayal in popular culture. Our guide will explore how tensions have led to conflict and gang culture over the last 150 years as well as the positive impact of immigration on The City of a Thousand Trades. In addition, discover Birmingham's links to the tea trade and how the Windrush generation helped rebuild Birmingham after the war. Find out on this slogging gang-themed tour which is also an excellent opportunity to try a taste of Birmingham and get a feel for the city as a whole. A three-course lunch is included in our price.
