Head inside the visitor center and select from a range of outdoor adventures, from guided hikes to rock climbing lessons to kayaking excursions. If you’re confident exploring solo, you can rent gear such as mountain bikes and stand-up paddleboards, and consult staff about trails, travel, and activities in the Squamish and Howe Sound area. There’s also a cafe, a small play area, and a gift shop selling First Nations artworks and craft pieces, and a small movie theater that typically shows videos covering the history and nature of the surrounding area.
Find the Squamish Adventure Centre along the Sea to Sky Highway (Highway 99), about one hour’s drive from downtown Vancouver and 40–50 minutes from Whistler. YVR Skylynx operates a bus service between Vancouver and Squamish Adventure Centre.
The best time to visit Squamish Adventure Centre is in late spring or summer. At this time the center’s outdoor patio is open and a wider range of outdoor activities are on offer.
The Squamish Adventure Centre is the perfect launching pad from which to explore the surrounding landscapes. Go hiking or rock climbing at Stawamus Chief Provincial Park, known for its 2,300-foot (700-meter) tall granite tower; get bird’s-eye views of the Howe Sound and Coast Mountains from the Sea to Sky Gondola; and hear the roar of the 1,100-foot (335-meter) tall Shannon Falls.
