The Basics

Most tours set out from Cairns, Port Douglas, or the northern beaches, from where it’s two hours to the end of the line at Kuranda. Passengers can choose standard carriages or more luxurious service. Combine your tour with North Queensland activities such as a ride on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, an Army Duck tour of the Rainforestation Nature Park, a helicopter ride over the Great Barrier Reef, or a visit to the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary.

Excellent day
A first class day. Was looked after by everyone from the pick up point from our hotel to the return. Weather was fantastic sunny and clear. Would recommend you pay the extra and travel gold class on the train.

Pick up was prompt. Weather was ideal luckily as it hadn't been for a few days previously. Views to die for and because of the rains the waterfalls were fully loaded and spectacular. Cable car and train rides, carriages clean, staff so helpful. Show excellent too

The Gold Class train car location and service was wonderful. Also, the Skyrail service and cleaning of each car / gondola between passengers was great. The scenery from both train and Skyrail with stops each way to get out and take pictures was Amazing. Kuranda village was nice.

Great first impression for kids' Cairns

Grand Kuranda Incl Skyrail, Kuranda Scenic Railway and Rainforestation (CKBB)
Tour guide/driver of the army duck Alissa was very knowledgeable who delivers ample safety rules and information via her interesting way with a good sense of humour. Kids also loved the Aboriginal dance and boomerang throwing experience. I was most impressed with how smooth the process is mapped out with a group of experienced people running tropic wings coaches and the electric buses offered along the way.

Train ride was awesome such beautiful scenery the army duck ride was really fun, lunch was yummy, aboriginal dancers were fantastic only disappointing thing was there was an electrical storm in the morning so our sky cable was canceled and had to get the coach back but it is what it is they have a safety obligation don’t want to see people get fried. All up a great day 😊

Train ride and sky rail back down was brilliant. Thoroughly recommend getting the Gold Pass well worth it. Bit too long between rail and sky rail back. Not much in the village to be honest.

Very enjoyable experience - the sky rail was great, Kuranda village was lovely to walk around - lovely places to eat, shop and explore including authentic aboriginal art. The scenic railway (gold class) was the best - fantastic experience.

Excellent Trip but over-priced

Kuranda Scenic Railway Day Trip from Cairns
The overall experience was excellent and we would highly recommend Kuranda to anybody travelling to Cairns. However, the trip was expensive for what was included - which was transfers and the skytrain and train journeys. We thought it unreasonable to be as asked to pay additional entry fees for the butterfly sanctuary, bird sanctuary and the wildlife centre given the cost of trip.

Definitely recommend this trip. The sky rail over the rainforest canopy is breathtaking and kuranda is a gorgeous place to spend the afternoon before getting the scenic railway back to soak up the last of the amazing scenery
