The Basics

Stroll through the sacred gardens of the goddess Ixchel, explore the large Ka’na Nah building, and visit nearby cenotes (natural swimming holes). Most Cozumel island tours visit the San Gervasio ruins, along with other local attractions such as a tequila factory and a chocolate factory. Some combo tours allow you to see the ruins via dune buggy and may include a snorkeling or beach excursion as well. Private and small-group tour options are available.

Cozumel Mayan Ruins and Beach: Private Tour
JC and our driver was excellent. We had a great time and being a private tour we could make small changes to itinerary. We learned a lot and it really helped that we did Chichen Itza last week. There was a lot of joking and laughter on this tour. Highly recommended!

Mayan Ruins and Beach Time
We had a fantastic time, our guide met us at the port by our cruise ship and made our journey flexible for our family. He was knowledgeable and shared lots of information about the Mayan culture. We skipped out on the tequila portion of the tour since we had small children and were able to have extra beach time which they loved and the adults had a few extra drinks on the beach. The beach area was beautiful with lots to enjoy.

Driver Jose and our guide Alfonso were the best!! We had a private tour of of the ruins and of the island. We opted out of the snorkeling so they took us to other places of interest to us. We went to the churches, hospitals, and cemetery. We enjoyed a spice store visit and several memorials and monuments around the island. We learned the history of the island and tasted it as well. Get a private tour!!!!! It is worth the extra pennies for what you get.

Carlos (JC) was an excellent tour guide. He was friendly, informative and very accommodating. We wanted a history tour of the island and to see the beautiful beaches and that is what he provided. We truly enjoyed the history he shared with us and we arrived back to our ship on time and safely.

Cozumel Mayan Ruins and Beach: Private Tour
My wife and I were contemplating renting a car and touring Cozumel Island on our own, but taking this tour was a much better experience. We saw more highlights and learned more. Our guide was friendly, informative, kind, and flexible. He taught us about what we were seeing and between stops informed us about local culture and cuisine. He was great!

Mayan Ruins and Beach Time
This was an amazing tour! Our driver, Taz and guide, Pedro were both phenomenal. Both were very knowledgeable and personable. We went to a small beach where we had lunch and our drive purchased guacamole and ceviche for us so we could try it since it wasn’t included. It was a private tour so it was just our family in the van and they made it feel like they were friends showing us around their town. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone wanting a personable tour of the island without the congestion of other people.

Must-See Ruins on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula

The Quintana Roo region is full of Maya history. The Tulum archaeological site lies one hour by road from Playa del Carmen and two hours by road from Cancun, and contains the remnants of an ancient port city. Nearby, the ruins at Coba contain a massive 138-foot-high (42-meter-high) stone pyramid. Further inland, the ruins of Chichen Itza are home to a similarly massive step pyramid dubbed El Castillo.
