National Comedy Center

203 W 2nd St, Jamestown, New York, 14701

The Basics

Visitors start by creating a humor profile, which is stored on an RFID wristband. Content is then tailored to their individual tastes, from slapstick to satire. You can take part in games or competitions, put yourself into an old comedy scene, or try your hand at skills such as comedy writing, creating a meme, cartooning, or even performing a live stand-up routine. More than 90% of the museum is interactive, but you can also see artifacts such as Charlie Chaplin’s cane and hand-written performance notes from George Carlin.

It was well worth the time spending at the Center 4.5hrs. We would do it again. There is so much to see and I know we didn’t see everything or participate in all the activities.

Great interactive museum. Who doesn’t like to laugh? I’ve never walked around a museum smiling. Spent a few hours, left for lunch (limited options) then returned for more laughs.

Loved it all, but especially the Lucy-Desi Museum. It brought back wonderful childhood memories as did many of the aspects of the main museum. The displays were very well done. Really liked the cartoon display as I never would have thought of it as comedy, but over the years cartoons have certainly brought me some good laughs.
