Things to Do in Jeju

As the name suggests, Jeju Glass Castle in west Jeju is devoted to the art of glass. Hundreds of sculptures by artists from around the world span three zones. Highlights at this glass-themed, indoor-outdoor park include the Magic Forest walking trail and a stunning mirrored room. You can take short classes in glassblowing, glass painting, and a technique called lampworking.

Boasting hundreds of teddy bears from around the world, Jeju’s Teddy Bear Museum is a must-see attraction for lovers of the cuddly toy. Highlights include the world’s smallest teddy bear, which measures just 4.5 millimeters, and an art gallery where teddy bears replace the human subjects of world-renowned artworks. The museum’s garden has teddy bear sculptures, plus fantastic views of Jungmun Beach.

The Jeju Folklore & Natural History Museum opened to the public in 1984 as the first and only natural history and folklore museum in Korea. The museum’s collection, divided between four themed exhibition halls, tells the cultural, historical and geological tale of Jeju Island.

The natural history collection includes flora and fauna specimens, coastal fossils and rock samples, as well as a miniature model demonstrating the volcanic eruption that created the island. Perhaps more interesting to foreign visitors are the cultural exhibition halls, where dioramas depict Jeju’s ancient and modern cultural traditional, including that of the island’s iconic female free divers.

Immerse yourself in Korean pop culture and enjoy digital interactions with your favorite K-pop performers at Play K-POP, an engaging museum and entertainment space. Located on Jeju Island, the museum offers more than 30 fun experiences and activities, as well as regular and special exhibits.

Jeju may not be renowned for its nightlife, but for visitors to the island, watching a Nanta performance at Jeju Nanta Theatre is a must. Nanta performances have become a cultural institution in South Korea, and the non-verbal performance combines comedy and music with martial arts, acrobatics, and traditional Korean dance.

Jeju Kimnyoung Maze Park is the first hedge maze ever to be constructed in Northeast Asia, securing its status as one of the top attractions on South Korea’s island of Jeju. The park, located between other popular island attractions, features a traditional hedge maze and skywalks that offer panoramic views.

In South Korea, Jeju is known as the Island of the Gods, making it a prime location for the island’s Greek Mythology Museum. The museum, housed in a replica of a neoclassical Greek building, showcases reproductions of more than 200 paintings and statues that derive from ancient Greece.

Hanwha Aqua Planet on Jeju Island is a state-of-the-art aquarium that boasts marine life from each of the world’s five oceans. The aquarium is home to more than 48,000 creatures (from 500 different species) and also boasts a 3D theater and daily educational talks and shows.
