The bridge owes its lightweight appearance to modern design and has two vehicle lanes and pedestrian walkways on either side. Thanks to the bridge, it's now easier to get between attractions such as the SAB World of Beer, the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre, Mary Fitzgerald Square, the Civic Theatre, the Market Theatre, and the 1913 Museum Africa.
The bridge can be viewed from one of Johannesburg’s most popular roads, the M1 highway. Sightseeing tours of the city typically include a photo stop at the bridge—a great way to squeeze in a visit between other attractions such as Carlton Centre and Constitution Hill.
