The Basics

Even if you’re not keen to summit 13,435-foot (4,095-meter) Mt. Kinabalu, you’ll still find plenty to do in Kinabalu National Park. Tours commonly leave from Kota Kinabalu, and generally include access to the canopy walkway and the opportunity to soak in the thermal waters of Poring Hot Springs. Some give you free time to explore the park’s well-marked trails, and most include lunch and hotel pickup and drop-off.

Kinabalu Park & Poring Hot Spring & Canopy Walk
Enjoyable trip at Kinabalu Park & Hot Spring. Guide was very knowledge and patient especially doing the Canopy Walk as some of the visitors were slow. We were also blessed to be able to view the Rafflesia at one of the garden farm thanks to the Guide.

Kinabalu National Park Tour with Poring Hot Springs
Views were nice but road was terrible! Also a lot of rubbish on side of road. Why don’t locals care about their environment?

Full-Day Kinabalu Park and Poring Hot Spring Day Trip
We had a fantastic day (long travelling times to and from) Flo our guide was extremely knowledgeable Flora & Fauna, we learnt so much from her both at the Botanical Gardens and during the Canopy Walk. Great at the end after our climb to the Canopy Walk to dip our feet in the hot Pouring Springs Water. We were luck with the weather and got some great photos of Mount Kinabalu from various vantage points. Well worth going, even with the long travel times.

Kinabalu Park With Rumah Terbalik & Desa Cow Farm
Beautiful park. Tour started on time and went smoothly. However, our tour guide spoke limited English so he did not have much history or information to share. Condition of vehicle was also not the best. That said, we still had a great time!

Kinabalu Park & Poring Hot Spring Tour
This was the best rainforest tour ever ! The views of Mount Kinabalu were incredible, the canopy walk in the park was sensational and was the only part that required some kind of physical effort. The desa farm was good (try their ice cream, it’s homemade and delicious !). Rosran was a very funny and joyful and knowledgeable guide as well as a good driver. He went the extra mile to find out if rafflesia flowers had bloom in that region and we managed to find not one, but two rafflesia flowers at a local conservation garden ! (Take an extra 30 RM/pax to pay the conservation fee).

Kinabalu Park & Poring Hot Spring & Canopy Walk
We had a great time at Kinabalu park and at the canopy walk with our guide, Tiana. The first stop was the botanical gardens where Tiana was helpful in explaining all the endemic plants. Next was the canopy walk over an amazing forest. We were then able to have time to ourselves where we saw a waterfall in the park. We were very lucky as Tiana had heard that there was rafflesia flower in bloom nearby so we stopped off there on the way back. Overall it was an amazing day - definitely recommend!

  • Due to uneven terrain, Kinabalu National Park is a difficult place for wheelchairs and strollers to access.

  • The villages on either side of the park have several basic accommodation options—it’s a good idea to book in advance.
