Grand Canyon South Rim

Highway 64, Arizona

The Basics

The South Rim of the Grand Canyon averages 7,000 feet (2,134 meters) above sea level, with natural wonders including Navajo Point, Hermit Road, and the Abyss. Grand Canyon Village is home to a variety of historic buildings, while other popular stops include the Grand Canyon Railway Depot, the Bright Angel Lodge, Kolb Studio, and the Desert View Watchtower, which features work by Hopi artists and incorporates Native American art and design.

Choosing a group bus tour, helicopter tour, air tour, or a self-drive tour makes the South Rim conveniently accessible from Las Vegas. Tours also leave from Sedona and Phoenix, and some combine the trip with a visit to the West Rim, the North Rim, or the Hoover Dam. A Grand Canyon helicopter tour is undoubtedly the fastest and most dramatic way to visit the canyon from Vegas.

Awesome experience. Would be great for solo travellers, couples or families.
Great Van. Comfy seats. The tour was for small groups, so the drives were peaceful and pleasant. The tour guides are great. They give out good information along the trip but at the same time gives you ample quite time to enjoy the ride. Enough time spent on the sights and the guides take great photos.

Grand Canyon South Rim, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend Day Tour from Las Vegas
Guides were very knowledgeable of everything we drove past. Liked that they let us off the van every 2 hours to use a restroom at a clean restroom stop area where you could buy snacks and real food. The trip said you would have about an hour and a half at each area but that wasn’t the case. Would have liked to spend more than just 30 minutes at the Grand Canyon but that wasn’t the case hence my 4 star rating.

Grand Canyon Railway Adventure Package
Seeing the trees covered in snow and the elk herds on the train ride up was great. The train personnel were very friendly and attentive. The chairs were comfortable and the train was clean. This is my first experience riding a train other than a light rail and I would like to take a longer train ride in the future. It is a relaxing way to travel.

Diane was our tour guide, l enjoyed the historical background information along our route during our drive. I enjoy watching and learning more about different species of cactuses. I enjoy the cleanliness of our tour van bus. How Diane interacted with everyone although the people on the tour van seem to be very reserved she made it a relaxing.environment. Things to Know Before You Go

  • The Canyon View Visitor Center, near the south entrance, stocks maps, books, and videos, while the Cameron Trading Post, outside the east entrance to the park, boasts a selection of souvenirs and supplies.

  • Stop by the Hopi House Gift Store and Art Gallery to see art and crafts from the local tribes.

  • If driving, be sure you have plenty of gas in your car before setting out for the canyon; there are few service stations in this remote part of Arizona.
