Discover the volcanic landscapes of the Rincon de la Vieja National Park as you hike one of its most scenic trails. Follow your guide along the 2.5-mile (3.5-kilometer) Las Pailas loop trail, marvel at steaming fumaroles, mini-geysers, and bubbling mud pools, and look out for iguanas and spider monkeys. Cool off with a swim beneath Oropendola waterfall, relax at the mineral-rich hot springs of Rio Negro, then enjoy lunch in Curubande Village.

Hike to the edge of a steaming caldera on a full-day trip to Rincón de La Vieja volcano, where bubbling mud, sulfurous ponds and simmering lagoons are warmed by underground activity. Follow your local guide on a 2-hour hike along the mountainside, and get an up-close look at the otherworldly features of this “gently active” volcano. Enjoy sweeping views of the Guanacaste mountain range, eat lunch inside the park, then finish your day with return transfer to your Guanacaste hotel.

This organized nature day tour will take you to three of Guanacaste’s best sites in the Rincon de la Vieja National park You’ll have about a 2 mile walk with a naturalist guide in the National park with incredible wildlife, then get to Oropendola Waterfall for a swim in the blue pool below. After an included lunch, you’ll get to Rio Negro Hot Springs to relax in the thermal waters.

Explore Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park during a private full-day tour led by a naturalist guide. The national park is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site with stunning natural features, including rain forest, wildlife, hot springs, and the volcano, which you see during a 2-mile (3-km) hike. In this activity, first time paddlers will be delighted with lush riverside scenery. These tours run on duckiest with experienced tour guides supervising the path travel in whitewater kayaks. You’ll ride a horse and hike past the waterfall on your way to the hot springs, if horseback riding is not for you there is a truck that will take you to the hot springs. Rincón de la Vieja has 5 clearwater hot springs with tiled bottoms and some volcanic mud, the minerals in the mud are said to be beneficial to the skin. At the end of the tour, you’ll have a delicious lunch waiting for you at a local ranch. Cooks here prepare meals in the kitchen’s clay oven, which will give your meal an authentic flavor. Your tour guide will explain how your food went from the ranch’s gardens to your table.
