Como House and Garden
With its mix of Italianate and Australian Regency architecture, manicured gardens, and antique furnishings; Como House offers a glimpse into aristocratic life in 19th- and 20th-century Melbourne. Dating back to 1847, the lavish stately home once belonged to the Armytage family and was a popular venue for high society events.
The basics
Join a guided tour to discover the historic home and step into the glamorous world of the Armytage family, who lived in the house for over a century. See the grand dining and reception rooms, peek into the servant’s quarters and kitchens, and admire the original furniture and family heirlooms that are still dotted throughout the house. Hear about the house and its inhabitants over the years, from the Gold Rush-era, to the two World Wars, and the Great Depression; then head out for a stroll around the gardens.
