Afareaitu Waterfalls
The Basics
Getting to the Afareaitu Waterfalls is a bit of an adventure in its own right. Both are accessed by dirt roads, followed by an uphill trek (20 to 30 minutes) through the jungle, over volcanic rock, and across streams. Although the journey to get to this attraction isn't easy, it is worth it for the experience of discovering a hidden jungle waterfall. There’s sometimes a small fee required to hike to the waterfalls.

Things to Know Before You Go
- Afareaitu Waterfalls is a popular spot for outdoors enthusiasts and adventure travelers.
- Don’t forget to bring your bathing suit, towel, and a change of clothes.
- Bring some local currency in small denominations to pay the fee if needed.
How to Get There
To access the road to this trek, take the unmarked road between the Ah Sing Market and the protestant church. Most locals will be able to give you directions.
When to Get There
The best time to visit the falls is in summer (November to April), when frequent rains fuel the falls and fill up the rock pools at the base. The falls are often little more than trickles during the winter dry season (October to April). The trail to the falls is accessible year round.
