The Basics

At Journey Behind the Falls, visitors descend by elevator to a series of tunnels bored into the rock behind Niagara Falls. The two tunnels, which extend approximately 150 feet (46 meters) behind Horseshoe Falls, lead to views of water cascades right in front of the open cave entrances. The best part is stepping out on the observation deck for a truly different and incredible perspective—you will get very wet, but it’s worth it!

My friend -- who has COPD -- was frustrated by the walking tour but I enjoyed it, We both loved the journey behind the falls. As everything was meant to be completed on the same day (a fact missing from the booking info) and we had other commitments, we did not have time for the Skylon Tower.

The best of all was behind the fall moment. Being so close and the colors were beautiful. The skylon tower was pretty cool. Would have been better if they sold beverages so that you sit and enjoy the view.

Journey Behind Niagara Falls Exclusive First Access via Boat

The tour was very informative and fun! The boat cruise to the Niagara Falls was the best part, of course, but in general it was all great! Our tour guide, Daniel, was amazing, he provided a lot of information about the falls and the history of the town. Be prepared to walk from the boat cruise area to the Niagara behind the falls area where the tour ends, wear comfortable shoes, and non-slippery.

Journey Behind Niagara Falls Exclusive First Access via Boat

Our tour guide, Daniel, was phenomenal. We had an amazing tourist with a disability that hung in there throughout the tour but towards the end had to sit at each stopping point. Daniel made sure she saw the illustrated pictures. He was engaging, funny and extremely knowledgeable.

Niagara Falls Tour from Toronto with Behind the Falls Vip entry

This was my husband’s time to Niagara Falls and my second after nearly 60 years. It was a wonderful trip! New memories for my husbands and renewed memories for me. Haroon was an excellent tour guide. He was encyclopedic about the area. You could tell they he was not only well liked by us on the tour, but the people at every stop, which were all amazing, greeted him warmly. It was a great experience!

We definitely had a great time on this walking tour. Our tour guide was amazing, she was very intentive and the information she provided was unique and memorable. There was more walking then expected so you need to come prepared but it took you to / past places that you wouldn't normally stop at while walking elsewhere. I would 100% recommend this to someone who wants the experience and likes simple and cheap experiences!

Favio is just superb as a tour guide.

Things to Know Before You Go

Journey Behind the Falls consists of an observation platform and series of tunnels near the bottom of Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian shore.
Be prepared for long lines, especially during the popular summer months. The best time to avoid the lines is early in the day.
Plastic ponchos are provided and are fine for keeping dry in summer. But during cooler months, be sure to bring a raincoat and warm layers.
