DMZ

Munsan-eup, Majeong-ri,Imjingak Tourist information center

The Basics

Even with its past, the area is quite safe for travelers and is one of the most fascinating day trip options from Seoul. The DMZ can only be visited as part of an organized, guided tour, during which travelers get the chance to see the Joint Security Area (JSA), also known as Panmunjom, where the North and South met for peace talks during the war. Visitors can also see both North Korean and South Korean soldiers each guarding their respective sides of the DMZ. Other common stops on the tour include Imjingak Park, the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, Freedom Bridge, and the Dora Observatory, where it's possible to look across the border into North Korea.

DMZ Tour from Seoul (inclue Guide, Vehicle, Ticket)
: I'll never forget seeing the massive flagpole and North Korean propaganda village from the Dora Observatory. Visiting the DMZ gave me a glimpse into a world that is usually hidden from view, and it was both fascinating and unsettling.

Premium Private DMZ Tour & (Suspension Bridge or N-Tower) include lunch
Kim was an excellent guide who collected us from our hotel and was a fountain of amazing knowledge from start to finish. The DMZ area provided a valuable insight into the history of Korea, as well as the tunnels. We then went for a fantastic lunch and trip to the suspension bridge and Gloster Hill. Kim then went above and beyond to drop us at the N Tower. Would recommend this personal experience - worth the price to get the 1-2-1 knowledge and fantastic organisation. Thanks Kim

Private DMZ Food Tour with Suspension Bridge and Kwangjagn Market
The DMZ tour is a sobering experience, a reminder of how fragile our world is right now. Harry was an amazing guide, friendly, and very knowledgeable. He made our experience memorable. We had a sumptuous Korean barbecue lunch. We ended the tour at the Gwangjiang Market, we will surely come back to experience more food!

DMZ TOUR from Seoul with English Guide(Demilitarized Zone-Infiltration Tunnel)
I was looking at North Korea from a distance on a snowy day, and something seemed serious. However, Imjingak Park was peaceful, and it was interesting that there were many large and stylish buildings and restaurants. The guide helped us understand this atmosphere and the story of the DMZ. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour.

When to Get There

Tours to the DMZ can be canceled on short notice, so it's a good idea to book for your first full day in Seoul so you have time to reschedule as needed. For the best weather, plan to visit in spring or fall. Expect high humidity and more frequent rainfall during the summer months, and dress for chilly weather in winter—temperatures tend to hover in the 20s and 30s F.

Dress to Impress at the DMZ

The DMZ has a strictly enforced dress code, partly because North Korean soldiers have been known to take photos of poorly dressed tourists to use in propaganda "proving" that other nations are too poor to afford proper clothing. Leave the ripped jeans, sandals, and halter tops at the hotel.
