Korean alcohol is a lot more than just a green bottle of soju, which is diluted ethanol with artificial sweetener. Broadly, Korean alcohols are divided into Tak-ju (unfiltered rice wine), Cheong-ju (filtered clear rice wine) and So-ju (distilled spirit). Here, we will focus on our specialty, soju, but we can also taste other types too. Samhae soju was a beloved choice of spirit among the noble class of Joseon dynasty(1392~1894). This luxurious alcohol had caused cult following, but the making was so resource(rice)-heavy that production had to stop during famines. The current master, Hyeonjong Kim had learned and practiced for more than 10 years under master Taeksang Kim who had inherited and kept the recipe in the family. Sadly, master Taeksang Kim passed away in 2021. We will have a privilege to taste the history. *For private groups, please make a private group reservation or message me. In this workshop, I will not only teach you how to write beautifully, but also how to experience the joy of carving a handcrafted seal. You will create a design using your name with an engraving knife on a small stone. During this activity, your mind will relax, and you will experience healing through the slow analog, tactile sensibility of everyday life. First, I show two ways to engrave the seal and demonstrate how to carve with a carving knife. Next, I show the way to design the names and help to design according to syllable of name. You go for it and then cover with ink of Korean style and take a stamp. Once the engraving is over, you can choose an elegant case for your stone seal. When you return home, you'll enjoy looking at the stamp you carved and remembering your travels. I'll write down a message for you in K-calligraphy after you have stamped your seal on a postcard I prepare.

For a true taste of Korean culture (and food) learn how to make two traditional dishes in a three-hour cooking class. The immersive experience takes place in a family home with a maximum of four people. So you’re sure to get lots of one-on-one attention from the teacher.  You can also choose to expand your class to include a trip to a local market

By learning this, you will be able to brew your own Makgeolli anytime and anywhere. you can earn 1L of fresh brewed Makgeolli, and 3 different types of Makgeolli tasting.
