Things to Do in Syracuse

To learn about the 200 year history of the Erie Canal, head to the Erie Canal Museum in Syracuse. Housed in the Weighlock Building (which was built in 1850 and once weighed cargo passing through the canal), the museum holds artifacts, interactive exhibits, and a full-sized replica of an old canal ship.

When you combine the fun of an amusement park with scientific subject matter, you get the WonderWorks “edu-tainment” center of Syracuse, New York.

WonderWorks is a small chain in the U.S., and at the Syracuse park there are interactive exhibits about space exploration, light and sound, and natural disasters. There are physical challenges, too, including lying on a bed of nails.

To get the adrenaline going, play a game of Lazer Tag or strap in for the 4D Simulator Ride. And for the little ones, there's a “Sky Tykes” ropes course. The whole WonderWorks facility is indoors, so a cold New York winter shouldn't deter anyone from having fun.
