The Basics

The 1000 Islands Tower offers three viewing decks. Visitors can reach the first observation deck by elevator and then take the stairs to higher decks. While you can enjoy the sights from the top of the tower on your own, there is a guide stationed on the first observation deck to provide information about the area and answer questions about the sights. The tower also offers a few evening events throughout the year, such as dinners and firework-viewing parties.

How to Get There

Set on Hill Island, 1000 Islands Tower is located close to Canada’s border with the United States and can be visited from either country (though you’ll need a passport if visiting from the U.S.). From the Canadian side, take Highway 401 to Highway 137, which passes by the tower. From the U.S., take I-80 to Canada, and then follow Highway 137 to the tower.

When to Get There

The tower is open seasonally from June through October. The observation decks usually close in the early evening, but on select summer days they stay open later to allow for sunset views. The tower has both glass-enclosed and open-air observation decks, making it possible to enjoy the views regardless of the weather. See the schedule for special events.
