The Basics

Two hours away from Tokyo city, the Swiss-built Hakone Ropeway cable car opened to the public in 1959. It travels the 2.5 miles (4 km round-trip journey) from Togendai to Sounzan in 30 minutes with chances to stop along the way at Ubako and Owakudani stations. The cable car passes over the hot spring sulfur fields at Owakudani, where clouds of the volcanic gas can often be seen erupting from a crater in the ground. Visitors can find their own way to Hakone or join a guided tour that visits the area along with other major sites in the region.

BEST DAY OF 16 DAYS IN JAPAN!
You haven't seen the majestic beauty of Mt. Fuji, its people, and the surrounding area unless you do it with a private guide. There were so many little places we would have missed w/o our guide Tajii. The guide and the driver were both professional, courteous, and kind. We had one person at our party that was Vegan and Tajii accommodated. The lunch was delicious and Tajii and "Tokyo Drift" the driver made an excellent team. I hope to visit again in 2025 with my kids and plan on doing this tour again.

Private Full-Day Hakone and Mt. Fuji Tour with Bilingual driver
My husband and I had a wonderful time on our tour of the Mt. Fuji area. The van was comfortable and clean and our guide was very knowledgeable of the area and the sites. He helped us find a wonderful Ramen lunch and pivoted with our desire to have some time to shop at the outlet shops. Highly recommend this tour to spend a day outside of Tokyo .

Mt Fuji and Hakone 1-Day Bus Tour return by Bullet Train (Shinkansen)
The weather was on our side! Such incredible views! The tour was well managed but we felt the tour guide was more of a camp counselor than a guide. She was lovely and very efficient at moving people from place to place as per the schedule; however, we had hoped the guide would provide us with more history, information about what we were seeing. That said, still a wonderful experience.

A really great day and fabulous tour plus excellent value for money - would highly recommend to anyone visiting Tokyo. Mai our tour guide was excellent and worked really hard throughout the day. She was knowledgable, fun & informative. Additionally, Suzaki San the coach driver, was particularly courteous and a superb driver. Anita & Lauretthe - UK ( Wales & Yorkshire!)

This tour was one of the highlights of our trip. We were so happy and really had a wonderful time. Hiro, our tour guide, was very friendly and professional. She knows her way around and she provides a lot of insights and information. She even gave us some sakura/matcha chocolates/pocky. Hope to visit again and join her other tours!

1 Day Private Tour Mt. Fuji, Hakone and Lake Ashi with English speaking driver.
Saqib took us around this trip and was also our guide (which was additional charge). We told him we were here to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. He got us a very tasty cake and made us cut it beside a beautiful lake. Very humbling gesture. He was very polite and accommodating. I would highly recommend him to take one around as a driver. As a guide, he could have done better.
