    Traditional Textile Tour

    Traditional Textile Tour

The Guatemalan Guipil (Huipil) is a type of blouse worn by indigenous women and is unique in the world, made with cotton thread and woven by various techniques. Throughout Guatemala there are many weavers of the güipil who do it themselves with their looms. So weavers have also developed these beautiful traditional costumes with their loom standing. The importance of valuing the work of these artists is because each piece is unique, given its complexity, each weaver offers one design at a time. The meaning of each one can tell us different stories, from expressions of nature to religious or political symbolism.

Visit 3 Cultural Towns in Lake Atitlan - Collective Tour From Panajachel
"As a first time visitor to Guatemala and Lake Atitlan, this tour was an excellent introduction to the mayan towns, culture and attractions. The tours to see the weaving/textiles and chocolate in San Juan La Laguna were very nice and informative. We were able to shop very nice items and tasty chocolate. The ride in the local transportation - tuk tuks was a lot of fun and we were able to purchase some local paintings. The restaurant we ate in Santiago Atitlan had really good food. I was surprised that most of these places accepted cards. The boat rides felt safe and allowed excellent views of the lake. Overall, the tour was very nice and well organized."..."

Lake Atitlan: Mayan Ceremony at the Sacred Caves
"This experience was very impactful for me as I‘ve been taking on a lot of energies during the couple months prior. Marcelino, our personal Mayan Shaman, took the time to understand each one of our intentions and prayers before the ceremony. Alex, our guide/translator, did an amazing job of helping us understand the Mayan culture and fire ceremony process. Thank you again Marcelino and Alex for allowing us into the sacred caves and providing the cleansing, healing, and protection we requested! ✨♥️💫"..."

Beading Class and tour a Non-profit vocational training center a Fun cultural sharing experience
"What a fantastic experience! The team understood my tight schedule and was happy to work around it. The center's visit was brief but beautiful and full of information about the place and its goals for the community, I could sense the passion and drive of everyone in the place, which made my whole experience so much better. Rosa was lovely and patient with me while we made the bracelet, the workshop was clean and beautiful with an amazing view of the lake and town. The restaurant looked amazing and I wish I had planned a time to have dinner after my beading class. The walk to the center is breathtaking, note that the hill is pretty steep, but there are a lot of taxis at the bottom to bring you up if needed, for around 10 Quetzals. Santa Cruz is beautiful, thank you so much for sharing your culture and your mission with me!"..."
