Visit Beelwarde, on the outskirts of Ypres, to experience an amusement park with a twist. Along with rides for visitors of all ages, the park is home to all sorts of animals, and it doubles as a natural parkland for visitors who want to hike, picnic, or just stretch out and relax.
The Basics
Bring the whole family to this park to experience the rides and other activities, everything from log flumes to roller coasters. Bellewaerde has special kiddie rides for the smallest of guests as well as stunt performances. If you prefer to stay on solid ground, walk through the park's leafy zoo to see giraffes, emperor tamarins, and more.

Bellewaerde is a must-visit for families, with plenty for kids of all ages.
Many rides have minimum height requirements. Most rides are accessible to visitors taller than 40 inches (100 centimeters).
Beelwarde is wheelchair accessible and has accessible toilets throughout.
How to Get There
Bellewaerde is located in Ypres and can easily be reached by car or public transportation. There is plenty of on-site parking if you choose to drive. If you arrive from Ypres Railway Station, take bus No. 84, which drops you at the park entrance.
When to Get There
Bellewaerde is open from the first weekend of April through the first weekend of November, but hours and opening days vary greatly, so check the website before arriving. On most days, the gates open midmorning and the park closes sometime between 5pm and 7pm. On Saturday nights in summer, it stays open until 10pm.
Bellewaerde Aquapark
Next to the main park, Bellewaerde Aquapark features a variety of slides and other water attractions, with plenty for younger and older kids alike. Highlights include a lazy river, a swim-up aquarium, a climbing wall, and all sorts of slides, plus plenty of whirlpool-style features for those who just want to sit back and relax.
