Filled with cultural institutions and other public buildings, this mile-long avenue also boasts many historical buildings, including an 1838 church, the colonial-era Ayers House, and the Adelaide Casino in a restored 1920s railway station. I was initially impressed that Graeme did not cancel my tour as I was the only participant. He gave a greater insight into the history behind the sites he showed me that I would not have gained just looking on my own. It was interesting and engaging. The highlight was the visit to the State Library. I would highly recommend it.

I enjoyed every bit. I was the only person booked on the tour(weather and season) and Graham still conducted it. Graham’s knowledge and research were outstanding. He had photocopies of photographs to compare the streetscape and buildings from the past to the present. The most interesting buildings were the police and asylum buildings. The story of Adelaide’s beginning was very informative. All in all a great way to learn about Adelaide.

An enjoyable journey through Adelaide's early history

This tour showcased some of the lovely old buildings in Adelaide and provided a very interesting and informative background to Adelaide's history, politics and notable people. Graeme was very knowledgeable and willingly provided the tour even though I was the only customer. He identified and explained many points of interest which I would not have found by myself and inspired me to want to return in the future to be able to explore some of the buildings even further. For anyone interested in the early history of Adelaide and in lovely buildings and architecture I would thoroughly recommend this tour.
