Overview

Get active while enjoying the great outdoors and spotting wildlife on this kayaking tour to the Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary. Paddle through ancient mangrove forests and keep a lookout for the dolphins that pass through. Learn about the animals and their habitat from your naturalist guide. No kayaking experience is necessary and the pace will be slow but moderate fitness is recommended.

    We had an absolutely fantastic experience on our kayak trip. Up close and personal with dolphin mum and bub! Very pleasantly surprised with how interesting the river and surrounding mangroves were. Our guide, Fiona, was very friendly, and full of knowledge. Highly recommend!

    We were able to see dolphins off in the distance but were kept back because there were calves with the mother. Since the tide was a bit low we weren’t able to see the shipwrecks. We paddled through one section of mangroves. Our guide, Brice, did a great job explaining how the mangroves help the environment, how they grow and how the area changes based on the tides. It seemed that the people who did a self-guided tour were able to get closer to the dolphins for viewing. We still had a nice time and would recommend the tour.

It is a shame the people who chose to do the self guided/hire option did not abide by the distance rules for approaching a dolphin, especially a dolphin with calf (which they stand a chance of being fined). We do need to keep in mind that this is the dolphins territory and we are just visiting it.

    It was a great experience but a bit disappointing that we could not visit the shipwrecks because of tide. It might be beneficial with a fixed tour opportunity when there are areas which cannot be visited - it seemed a bit unclear what the plan was when we couldn’t go to the wrecks But super nice guides and fun

Sometimes if the wind is too strong from a certain direction we may not be able to go to the shipwrecks, as they are in more of an open area and it may be difficult for some to kayak back against the wind but we do try to give our customers the best experience possible.

    Great tour, great guiding. Informative and fun, really a great experience. People are super friendly and helpful. Unfortunately didn’t see much of the dolphins, only in the distance, but that is to be expected with the animals. Would do again, definite recommend.

    It’s my last few days in Adelaide. I decided to explore the nature and I saw the kayaking schedule which is what I want. Everything is wonderful, the weather, boat and instructors. We all have fantastic moment there , swimming with dolphin and entering the manglove area.

    Had a great time with Alex our guide. Only issue we had was my phone drowned inside my waterproof bag..... Ohh well needed a new one anyway! Was due to circumstances though, so not really a negative.

    Brilliant day out and seeing a mother and child Dolphin and being able to see the young Dolphin play felt like a true special moment. Our tour guide Kirralee was very friendly and informative on the tour and even went the extra mile in giving me and my girlfriend a lift to the train station, a true legend! Thanks again!

    The kayaking tour was amazing on so many levels. The actual dolphins were incredible, we were able to observe them whilst being respectful of them and their habitat. The sanctuary was gorgeous, especially the mangroves which were the most untouched habitat we’ve ever seen. Although the kayaking was a little tiring at times, it was worth it to see the spectacular shipwrecks at the end. Kirralee our guide was fantastic; super facilitating and her knowledge and passion for the area made the experience even better. Would do it again in a heart beat!

    To be honest, I don’t want to give one star. The main precautions were not informed. I booked the 9.30a.m Dolphin Sanctuary Kayak for four people. They didn’t tell me the night before that I needed to arrive at the destination 15 minutes in advance to prepare and wait. When we arrived at our destination at 9.26a.m, the person in charge said that we were 15 minutes late, and they were treat us very unfriendly and unpatience.At first, my friend and I had no experience in kayaking, and the kayak kept shaking. The male staff directly said to us: (If you don’t know how to row, I advise you don’t play kayak! Just now you didn't listen to the coach's explanation kayak lessons?) I've only been in the kayak for less than a minute, does the manager need to say something so impolite to us? We really come on vacation pay money for enjoy and have fun, not for pissed off. It is in the tourist attraction service industry. If there is no good service attitude and patience, I advise the service center staff not to do this job, not you to persuade us don’t row kayak. This service attitude makes me not want to visit again.

    HI WeiPin we are very shocked and sad to read your review and we apologise that you felt you were not dealt with correctly but there seemed to have been a bit of a language barrier on this day as our guide was not comfortable letting your group go on the guided tour with other customers as you were having problems with basic kayaking, he was trying to get you to go another day when we could have one guide dedicated to your group only. When you book with us our confirmation email explains what you need to bring, when you need to arrive and how to get to us, perhaps this information was not given by the third party you booked through.

    We had a great day, was sunny, enjoyed paddling. We saw 2 shipwrecks and saw dolphins up close. We had an amazing experience, learned so much my Alex our tour guide, staff are all accommodating. One of our most memorable experience in Adelaide.

    Our guide shared his knowledge of dolphins and their environment with us as we kyacked our way around the sanctuary. We had never kayaked before, so it was a great way to learn. We really enjoyed the stillness of the glide through the mangroves.

    An Amazing kayaking experience with the dolphins

    Our tour guide Noah was amazing at telling us details about the ship wreak and the mangroves. When asked a question he was able to answer in heaps of detail. We saw a mother and calf dolphin who was doing tricks, who got quite close to us. Love the experience and would recommend it to anyone coming to Adelaide.
