A way to see McLaren Vale and Glenelg

Our tour guide, Bruce, was very knowledgeable about local history, flora and fauna and picked a route that allowed us to see Koalas in the wild, for which we thank him. However, he was also required to pick up passengers in Hahndorf (which is NOT on the way to McLaren Vale from Adelaide) so that it took 1 1/2 hours to get to our first winery, and then we only had time for 2 wineries. Both wineries sold quite inexpensive wines and, while the settings were nice, the wines were unimpressive and uninteresting. At the end we quickly drove through Glenelg and stopped only long enough to drop off some of the group. It would have been nice to have a bit of time to walk around.

Visited 2 lovely wineries and enjoyed the cheese platter at Shingleback. Even though the weather wasn’t kind to us with a few showers the drive back along the beach front was lovely.

JR was a great guide adding some local history and knowledge to the wine experience. Good to meet other nationalities and share stories and experiences at each stop. We took the tram home to spend more time in Glenelg which was great as we saw an amazing sunset over the beach.

A fantastic wine and scenic tour. Craig was very informative, friendly and very helpful, prompt pick up and then offering to drop off at hotels and the train station. The two wineries visited were excellent. Added bonus of visiting Glenelg on the return. Great value for money. Highly recommend this trip.

Poor wine selection spoiled trip

The bus trip to and from the wineries, and the lunch were the most memorable parts of the trip. We were not allowed to select which wines we wanted to taste at either winery, but we’re presented with six wines of their choice. Of these wines only one would have been on our list. A very unsatisfactory tasting indeed

We specifically booked this tour as it was 4.5 hours and had an event to go to. When we were on the tour we worked out that this was not going to end soon. The driver said he'd drop us off and then proceeded to keep driving without checking. We were eventually left on a road side to catch an Uber and missed our event anyway as the locations we were dropped was not a major area the error was on Viators behalf. And eve n though they corrected this after we booked but before our trip, No one called to advise this error before we commenced our trip.

I would say the most memorable part was getting to talk to and socialize with the other guests. The trip was supposed to take four hours but it ended up taking six hours. We were also told we would have the opportunity to see kangaroos and emus but there were none.
