Depart from either your Amsterdam hotel or a central city location and travel to the departure point of the walking tour. After greeting your knowledgeable guide, board a tram destined for the Jordaan district, listening to interesting commentary regarding the district’s radical transformation as you travel.

Despite a bit of an initial mix-up (Viator instructed us to meet our guide across from the Central Train Station in Amsterdam at the tourist information building and instructed her to meet us at our AirBnB at the appointed time so it reqiured a little detective work on our guide's part to locate and meet us - Viator, please take note),our tour was a great success. Not only did our guide have an encyclopedic knowledge of the history and cultural heritage of Amsterdam, she was very sensitve to our personal interests and crafted her tour so that is was perfect for us.

The tour included a number of locations that the locals would be familiar with but would surely been overlooked by a first time visitor. Dietrich was a delight to be with and thus we will always look back on this tour with a big smile!

Renate, our guide, was very friendly, informative, and considerate. She took her time to explain the history and show us around Amsterdam in a way only a local can. We had just landed a couple of hours prior and were pretty jet lagged, but she still took her time to show us everything she could that interested us. She even took us to an amazing local cheese shop and dessert shop. I highly recommend booking this tour. You will not be disappointed. Unless you go often or are with a local, it would be difficult to see or know the places she took us too. Do not hesitate to book this tour.

Robert was our amazing tour guide for a 4 hour walk on our first day in Amsterdam. Robert was energetic, knowledgeable, personable and was able to adapt our tour so that we ended at our house rental. His tour gave us a great perspective on how to navigate the city with ease for the rest of our trip. He showed us several sites that I don't think we would have found on our own for example, we walked through Central Station for a view of the water and ferry. There were four people in our group and he was able to address the interest of all of us - history, art, shopping. Overall, I would give him 6 stars if I could, but 5 will have to do. Highly recommend this as a first day activity to give you the overall idea of the City of Amsterdam.
