Absolutely incredible experience. Challenging on a good day, rigorous on a bad. The hike is a real deal hike with plenty of challenging climbs, switchbacks, and inclines, it’s not a walk in the park. But, it’s worth every muscle ache. ** it gets VERY COLD ** at night, be prepared for temperatures around 0-5c. You will be warm on the hike and the wind and cold of the night will hit you hard, be prepared for the night and to sleep. Bring some extra money to have for food or coffee at the beginning and end of the hike. There is a cafe at the tttailhead with delicious coffee, mocha, crepes and smoothies. They only take Guatemalan money, no credit cards.
