What To Expect

Step back in time as you visit one of the most impressive ruins of the ancient Mayan civilization at Tikal National Park during this 17-hour day trip. Best of all, you’ll get to visit this one-of-a-kind wonder of the world via a flight from Antigua, saving time during your Guatemala adventure.

Begin your trip with a 3:40am pickup from your hotel in Antigua, before proceeding to Guatemala City’s airport for your flight to the town of Flores in northern Guatemala. Upon your arrival in Flores, a pre-arranged vehicle will transfer you to Tikal National Park (Parque Nacional Tikal), where you’ll begin your exploration of this amazing UNESCO World Heritage site. Covering an area of 341 square miles (550 sq km), this fascinating Mayan city offers a wealth of structures for exploration.

Check out a number of Tikal’s most important buildings with your guide, including the Central Acropolis, containing a labyrinth of interior temples and courtyards, as well as Complex Q and R, home to twin pyramids and intricate religious complexes at their base. You’ll also have time to admire the giant Temple I, also known as the Temple of the Grand Jaguar. This 144-foot (44m) religious structure was built to commemorate the burial of Mayan King Moon Double Comb. Finish your exploration with a stop at Temple II, which has been dubbed the Temple of the Masks.

Take a break to sample a tasty lunch on the grounds of the national park before getting some time to wander the site at your leisure in the afternoon. Then proceed back to Flores airport to catch your flight back to Guatemala City and transfer back to your Antigua hotel.

Tikal National Park

Upon arrival at Flores Airport, you'll be driven to Tikal National Park (Parque Nacional Tikal), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With an area of more than 341 square miles (550 sq km), this national park contains thousands of separate ruin structures scattered around, each full of fascinating history. Visit the Mayan ruins with your expert guide and explore everything from the Central Acropolis, a maze of courtyards and small temples, to Complex Q and R, where you'll see twin pyramid complexes with altars set in front of the temples. Visit the massive Temple I, the Temple of the Grand Jaguar. Across the way, visit the equally beautiful Temple II, the Temple of the Masks. Next, enjoy a delicious lunch at Tikal National Park before having some free time. Then, head back to the Flores airport to begin your transfer back to Antigua.

      Wonderful trip with 11 people
      Megan_G, Mar 2023
We had a group of 11 people. Adults down to a 7 year old. It was a great experience. From booking, our driver picking us up, the flight, the driver and guide, the tour, and lunch. Can not say enough about how well this went. The communication was very thorough and would absolutely do it again!!!!
      Do it!

Though it was a long day it was well worth the trip. An absolute must see. Amazing history right before your eyes. Our guide was so informative.

Great guide! The lunch was fantastic. Overall great experience! Met really interesting people and had a wonderful time.
Add this to your itinerary, now

Everything runs so smoothly. Tour guide was great! A guy who loves what he does and has been doing it for decades. He described all the plant life and spotted animals out of nowhere! I got to see a group spider monkeys, howler monkeys, even 2 toucans! And the temples along with all the surrounding areas have a history that you won’t begin to understand without a guide. Don’t even question it. If you’re going to be in Antigua, go ahead and book this for one of your days. It’s a serious no-brainer. I was a solo traveler and never felt alone. Can’t recommend this enough.
      Amazing

The tour guide was awesome! Tikal is a beautiful place and will visit again. I will come again and again!
      Sr. Lopez is the best!
      Morgan_B, Aug 2022
Very easy to book and everything was taken care of! A lot of moving parts for everyone involved but they handled everything with ease. Sr. Lopez was phenomenal, very passionate about the history of Tikal and knowledgeable. Our trip wouldn’t have been the same without his guidance!
      Great activity.

The most memorable moment was the opportunity I had traveled 🧳 from antigua Guatemala to Tikal with my family. Everything was perfect and safe, on time, and the lunch was so delicious.
      Enjoying the cultural of Guatemala
      John_A, July 2022
Hello - I can not put in to words what a wonderful trip/adventure this was. First the van and Henry that picked us up at 3:30am was right on time very friendly! He was a safe driver. Ed who was our tour guide was professional, funny, friendly, knowledgeable, polite and patient. I really can not say enough about him. I would recommend this trip to any and everyone who ever visits here and if I ever come back to Guatemala I would definitely do it again!!
      Amazing but short
      Katarzyna_G, July 2022
Tikal was amazing, the lunch was delicious, and the souvenir stop worth it (didn't anticipate it, usually it's waste of time for me). Make sure to get some Mayan tea there! My only complaint is that it felt like we spent too little time in Tikal - first I waited for 50 minutes for the tour to start in Flores. Then the tour was over when the lunch was over - I waited 2 hours at the airport for my return flight regretting I didn't use that time to see more of Tikal.
      Tikal Ruins Tour
      Jacob_T, May 2022
Our guide was amazing! His name was Aquilino (hope I’m spelling it right.) He was so knowledgeable about all the ruins and the Mayan people. He shared with us details about the animals and the plants, about Mayan culture and society. His English was incredible and we had no problems understanding him. I highly recommend touring Tikal!

Our trip to Tikal was amazing. The shuttle service to and from the airport was on time and the drivers were very friendly. Our tour guide, Rony, went above and beyond explaining the amazing history of the Mayan empire while also explaining all about the local flora and fauna. It's certainly worth the cost and you get what you pay for. Highly recommend!
      Great tour
      Julie_C, Apr 2021
Amazing experience. We had a guide who was super friendly, encouraging, knowledgeable, and passionate about the Mayan people. Everything went smoothly the whole day.
      The trip of a lifetime
      David_R, Dec 2020
What a wonderful trip! Flores and Tikal were beautiful! Our guide, Aquilito Martinez, was an amazing source of information and history! Seeing the ruins and the animals was thrilling! We saw Coatimundi, a crocodile, a couple of spider monkeys and many species of birds. We even stopped to listen to Howler monkeys calling out in the jungle! The pace of our tour, the size of our group (4), the transportation to and from the airport were all perfect for us. Lunch provided was simple and wonderful! We will definitely come back to wonderful, beautiful Guatemala!
      Fantastic Day

Well organized. Wonderful, knowledgeable and friendly guide, Sr. Lopez. The ruins are incredible and well worth the trip.

      Temples and wildlife
      Augustina_L, Feb 2020
This is an amazing trip. Tikal is magical. Many of the temples and structures are buried in the jungle, emerging as mounds covered with trees and vegetation. Wild life is around every corner and if you are lucky enough to have a guide as wonderful as ours you will learn so much, with plenty of laughter thrown in. The views from the top of the temples is incredible, but don’t miss the complex dwelling structures in the grand plaza.
Once in a Lifetime! Must go!
      Mommagray, Feb 2020
Best tour I’ve taken so far. Comfortable buses (not cramped as usual) and our guide was AMAZING! He actually participated on many archeological digs and was a valuable resource.
      Held up for more money.
      James_C, Jan 2020
Booked a trip for March. Charged and then received tickets for wrong dates in January. Tickets were also in the 3 day non refundable period. Told to change would be 100$ per person to correct. Still disputing. Too bad because I still will go just have to choose another company.
      Well Organized Trip
      Jaiganesh P, Jan 2020
Our flight was delayed in the morning due to fog and we lost 2 hours in the morning waiting at the airport. But still our tour guide made sure that we made most of our tour and we covered all the important places within the park. It was well organized from my pickup in antigua to dropping me back. I was able to contact the Agent throughout the trip with whatsapp which made things easier with all flight delays and stuff.
      Absolutely worth it
      Anne_S, Nov 2019
What a fantastic day! Our guide, Erdozain (with support from Alan) was so knowledgable and so passionate about Tikal that it made our tour very special. It was so exciting to see spider and howler monkeys and all sorts of other flora and fauna. Definitely climb all of the temples! The small airplane to Tikal was also a fun experience in and of itself!
