Then continue to La Sagrada Familia, indisputably Antoni Gaudi’s most famous work, by private transportation.

Our guide Xavier was very knowledgeable and passionate about Gaudi and Barcelona. His tour was a great introduction to Gaudi and left me wanting to see more of his works and this amazing city. Xavier was very personable, remembering each person's name and where they came from (which is quite a talent), making each of us feel welcome and important. He was also mindful of the heat, stopping to talk to us in the shade and spending as little time as possible in the direct sun. Thank you Xavier for making Barcelona the highlight of my trip!

We booked this tour because we wanted to experience both of these attractions and knew that with our limited time we needed a guide to appreciate them fully. Not only was Victor knowledgeable, he was very thoughtful with the breaks to give everyone one a rest (in the much needed shade) during the climbs and the large amount of walking. Both sites were not to be missed while in Barcelona.

A combination of disappointments but not a complete disaster

As we were leaving our hotel for the meeting point, it began to rain very hard. Instantly, there were no taxis. We ran to catch the bus and only got on because I banged on the door as he was pulling away. We had not confirmed at the hotel which stop to take. The bus driver acted like he didn't know, even though I showed him the meeting point on the app. A passenger on the bus told us where to get off, but it was the wrong entrance to Park Guell. We called the company but it was so hard to hear, in addition to the thick accent, that we couldn't figure out how to get to where we needed to go. We asked people but again, directions were poor and it was monsoon raining. Finally, after being 30 minutes late and assuming we'd missed the tour of the park, we walked to La Sagrada Familia in the downpour. Thankfully, we were successful in meeting up with the tour and got to see the Sagrada, which is a must-see and our tour guide was very good. Of course, the weather was no one's fault and if we had caught a cab or had more time to determine the correct bus stop, I believe we would have gotten to the correct park entrance. I recommend the tour, just be sure you get to the correct entrance of the park. There are several and the distance between them is far and it is not clear where to go.

Great Guide and Amazing Places

David Esteban was our guide. He was an A++ guide. He first took us to Park Guell. There he guided us through the older section of the park, explained its history and how it became what it is today. We then moved on to the section where his knowledge of the park and of all of Gaudi's imaginative creations made everything even better than it looks. He pointed out Gaudi touches that I'm sure many never notice. Then it was on to La Sagrada Familia. There are no words to express the magnitude of beauty, history, and creativity Gaudi put into this. David did an excellent job of describing and explaining everything on the outside. When we got inside he had us all look at the floor until we reached the center of the building and then look up. We stood in awe. What an amazing way to start our exploration of the interior. Again his explanations and his pointing out all the nuances and sheer diverse knowledge Gaudi put into this basilica was amazing. We learned so much during our afternoon with David. We highly recommend this tour and especially David Esteban. As an added tip: It is worth a little extra to have the "Skip the Line" tour. A lot of people in the long lines at each of these places looked longingly at us as we went right past them.

We loved seeing the history and background of Park Güell and Segrada Familia! Our guide, Albert was fun and knowledgeable! He was eager to answer any of your questions with detail and confidence. Albert provided everyone with time to take pictures and explore. He was also very accommodating to those who struggled with all the walking and stairs at the Park without slowing down the group. We spent a good amount of time at both locations and we we’re shuttled from the Park to the Basilica which was a nice break with all the walking. Recommend arriving to the meet up point at least 15 mins early since it’s at the entrance which happens to be at the top of a steep hill. We took advantage of our 24 hr Barcelona Touristica bus ticket to drop us off near Park Güell which was still a 10 mins walk up hill. If you taxi make sure it drops you off at the entrance on Carrer d’Olot. Also, recommend comfortable walking shoes and a good meal before the tour to keep up with all the walking and near 4 hour tour. My partner and I really enjoyed this tour-these sites are truly amazing to see!!! Having a guide to enhance the experience with history, culture and detail made this all the more meaningful.

Would definitely recommend taking the guided tour to ensure your experience is as excellent as ours. Our guide was on time and was so knowledgeable about the property, answering questions and adding bits of information that wouldn't be otherwise available. The tour groups are only about 10 people per group, which allows for a more personalized experience. Definitely worth the time to do this tour.
