Overview

Have a unique Big Island experience snorkeling with manta rays on this tour. Led by a local guide, you’ll take a short cruise out to the manta site, where you’ll watch the beautiful Hawaiian sunset before dipping into the water to watch the manta rays up close. All necessary equipment will be provided for your excursion, as well as light refreshments and snacks to enjoy on board. Your tour will conclude at its original departure point. If you don't see manta rays on this excursion, book again for another night--no charge.

    After turning into the harbor, TAKE the very first road to the RIGHT. Follow the road, pass Gentry's Kona Marine and a small gas station -Sea Store and Deli on the left, then TURN LEFT. As you drive in, you will see a small brown roof building to the right (restrooms). Meet crew under the pavilion.

  • MUST HAVE PREVIOUS SWIMMING AND SNORKELING EXPERIENCE OR WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET IN THE WATER!!!
  • MUST BE comfortable in the water, be comfortable using floatation if needed (we have Ride Along option available for non-swimmers)
  • Must be in good health and fit condition, must be able to climb a short ladder
  • Due to the nature of this tour and the safety of all guests, the tour operator reserves the right to refuse service to passengers who are intoxicated or show signs of intoxication. If, as a result, your tour is canceled, you will not be entitled to a refund.
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Service animals allowed
  • No heart problems or other serious medical conditions
  • Subject to favorable weather conditions. If canceled by the supplier, you will be given the option of an alternative date or full refund
  • Recommended to bring towel, clothes for change, sweatshirt or light jacket
  • Age restriction: minimum age allowed is 2 years old; maximum age allowed is 70 years old (unless approved by the supplier)
  • Not recommended for participants with back or neck problems or injuries within the last 3 years
  • Not recommended for pregnant travelers in an advanced pregnancy
  • Travellers should have a moderate physical fitness level

Thoroughly enjoyed the tour with this team - they provided historical context, and are eco conscious in regard to protecting the manta rays and educating us in what to and not to do in during the experience. Besides life events like marriage and kids being born, this is a top 3 in my life for sure!

AMAZING UNFORGETTABLE experience; however, I recommend you rent a FULL wetsuit as the water is cold at night. The vest that was provided helped, but a full suit would have been better. If you get sea sick, prepare yourself... the boat stays anchored for a while & the water can be choppy. Bring or rent the GoPro. There's a lot going on when you get in the water & having video was great to share. The Captain & shipmates were great & really looked out for everyone to try & make sure they had the best experience.

Communication with the company was terrible. We had travel issues and we’re going to miss our reservation so we called and emailed the operator to see if anything could be done but they never responded.

The crew were awesome. Had a good time. Had manta ray do a back flip with in a foot of me. Unfortunately, there weren’t a lot of memories out that night but I had a great time.

This was one of the coolest things I've ever done. I cannot believe how close we were to so many manta rays. 100% recommend this tour - the crew was informative and helpful. I am a person who gets cold ALL the time, so if that's you just know you can do it. If I were going to do it again, however, I would bring the full wetsuit I own. The wetsuit top provided did take the edge off the cold, but I was definitely cold the entire time in the water. After I got out, a towel and a dry rashguard top were enough to keep me warm on the ride back. (I had more clothes that I didn't need to put on). We took 4 kids - 11 to 9. 3 out of 4 stayed in the water to check out the manta rays. One got a little freaked out, but we knew that was a possibility.

DON’T BOOK! Captain was not safe - literally pulled us on the floats with the boat in large waves. Split our entire family up. Several other expert captains we talked to over the next few days said we should have never been out - you rely on these captains to know the conditions and this was not the case. Overall terrible. Also contacted after experience and they completely ghost you with no reply to emails.

We are sorry to hear you had a rough trip. Our captains are all Coast Guard certified and are careful to not launch in bad sea conditions or if there are any safety issues. That trip had happy customers seeing lots of mantas. Please call us directly if you have issues, as that is the quickest way we can respond. .

This was a great, memorable experience! It’s a short ride on a fast ship out to the dive spot, and captain Simon and crew quickly got the equipment and guests into the water. There were a half dozen or more large mantas gracefully gliding below us at any given time. As they swam in loops up towards the floating lights, they would come oh so close but never brush against us. It was mesmerizing! One of the best things we have done in Hawai’i!

This was honestly one of the most amazing experiences my wife and I have ever gone through. To have these majestic creatures come within inches of you is something that just can't be described by words. I apologize for my blurry pictures, but no pictures will do this justice. Captain Simon was very funny and made the entire ride enjoyable. Ula and Ileo made our time in the water pleasurable and were very patient with all of the group. I would highly recommend this, and will be returning with my extended family when we take our family trip to Hawaii.

A “must-see” on the Big Island

Great time. Captain and crew were fun and entertaining. Water was a bit chilly, and we were in it for about 45 minutes. The manta rays were active and there were LOTS of them, and they came within inches of us.
A must see to experience.

These creatures are amazing. Beautiful and graceful. They come so close to your face and body as if you are one with them. Our crew was great and they took such good care of everything and everyone.

Trip got canceled due to high surf which I understand but trup advisor refused to refund money even after they said they would. I have to dispute the charge on my credit card disappointed
