What To Expect

Your day starts with morning pickup at Brisbane Transit Centre and a scenic drive through Numinbah Valley with views of Mt Tamborine. Approximately 62 miles (100 km) south of Brisbane, you reach Springbrook National Park, which lies within the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage area.

Follow your guide on a hike that takes you into the rainforest and past waterfalls in this lush landscape. Hear about the region’s diverse wildlife, which includes more than 1,700 species of flowering plants and 500 vertebrate animals. Keep an eye out for pademelons (similar to wallabies), goannas, Australian water dragons and Australian brush-turkeys.

Near the arched rock of Natural Bridge, you can see Cave Creek waterfall as it plunges into a pool below as well as a cave with glow worms, which resemble tiny stars on the cave walls. Be on the lookout for Australian wildlife such as rosellas, king parrots, bowerbirds and kangaroos.

In the afternoon, take a guided tour of the Tamorine Mountain Glow Worm Caves at Cedar Creek, for your final rainforest walk of the day. See an audio-visual display on glow worms, whose brilliant blue-green lights are actually emitted by the tiny larvae of a fungus fly. Step inside the second cave filled with thousands of glowing worms!

Stroll along the Curtis Falls track, a moderately challenging 1-mile (1.6-km) trail that includes 101 steps. Descend beneath towering gum trees to the viewing platform over Curtis Creek, then continue down to a second platform overlooking a waterfall that cascades into a large rock pool.

After the drive back to Brisbane, you're dropped off at your original departure point.

Tamborine Mountain

During your time at Tamborine, you will have free time at the popular Gallery Walk - Queensland's premier Arts and Craft district. There is an eclectic range of clothing, jewelry, and art galleries, fudge and sweet shops, wine tasting centres, boutique brewery and much more.

Excellent tour with very experienced guide, who looked after us. Well recommended. Looked at two types of rainforest and saw quite a few glow worms, lizards, kangaroos and a snake and large huntsman spider.

Great day out.
Susan_W, July 2022
Lovely day out with our guides Brian and Bruce. Spectacular views and great walks. The glow worm cave was interesting and well worth a visit. Learnt a lot. Would definitely recommend. Good walking shoes are essential as there are a lot of uneven steps.
Response from Host, Aug 2022
Hi, Thanks for doing a Review of your day with us in the Mountains. Yes guests should wear suitable walking shoes and white may not be a good choice. Glad our guides passed on some knowledge and you enjoyed the day. Regards Jo-Anne
Just, fine...
Josephine_L, June 2022
Nice day with nice tour guide, other guests as well as lovely weather. The highlights were the two rainforests. The gloworm cave was a bit of a let down. Seemed rather small. All in all it was an OK tour, nothing too exciting. I guess the main benefit is they drive you to all your destinations and the tour guide explains certain facts.
Response from Host, July 2022
Hi, Thank you very much for passing on your comments about the Tour. We try our best to provide a variety of activities during the day to maximise the time we have and give something to a wide diversity of interests our guests present. For some the highlight is the glow worms, for others its Gallery Walk. But certainly the highlight for most is experiencing our awesome rainforests. And you hit the nail on the head. The big benefit is we do all the planning, provide the transport, and ensure that through our guides you learn something along the way. Again our appreciation for your comments. regards Jo-Anne
Very Interesting!
Kimberly_C, June 2022
Very interesting! Beautiful scenic walks through rainforests and along rivers/waterfalls. Glow worm cave was very cool! Long rides in the van, but worth it!
Response from Host, June 2022
Hi, Thank you for your Review and for the 5 star rating. We are aware of the length of the travel to Springbrook but it is the best rainforest in the area and you get to drive through the Numinbah Valley on the way. Australia is a big country! The drivers tell me that the drive is longer than normal at the moment due to the amount of roadworks that are happening, some resulting from the recent heavy rains. Hopefully the drive was worth it and your Review seems to indicate this. Again thank you. Regards Jo-Anne

Brian was a great host, very knowledgeable and friendly. The hikes were not very hard, but there are steps. The sites were beautiful. We had 10 people on our tour and it was the perfect size. This was a great day trip!

Janet_S, Dec 2019
Lovely day, James our guide very helpful and informative. Just a pity that the drought meant the creeks and waterfalls were not very full.
Great day trip

A date with Nature!
VijayGanesh_S, Dec 2019
Seeing the glow worms & waterfalls up close was a very memorable experience! It started to rain the moment we enter the rain forest, which was like icing on the cake! Overall the entire package is very ideal if you are looking for spending a day without too much exertion. Shane was our tour guide & he did a splendid job! P.S. Try to avoid sitting in the back seat of the minivan if possible ;)
Response from Host, Dec 2019
Hi, Thank you for your Review. You certainly were special - it rained. I amd sure you will be aware that we have been in a drought for a while and any rain is a blessing. Also the forest looks it best in the rain - true! We are aware that any back seat can be a little cramped which is why we always keep a spare seat on that tour so we only have 3 across the back not 4. You should have said something I am sure Shane would have rotated seats. Thank you once again. regards Jo
a real nature experience
Henning M, Oct 2019
This trip is a day full of nature experience. After driving up into the montains there are nice walks, not to exhausting. The nature itself is just great. THere is some driving to and from the place, however, this is acceptable. The guide even pointed out another short hike ínstead of the visit at the tourist village.
