What To Expect

Depart from Brussels in a spacious, air-conditioned vehicle and get acquainted with your knowledgeable guide during the scenic journey to Ghent. Disembark at the UNESCO World Heritage-listed city, considered one of Belgium’s most beautiful, and embark on a comprehensive tour with your accomplished guide.

Begin at the sacred structure of St. Bavo’s Cathedral, home to late-medieval treasures like the ‘Mystic Lamb’ painting. Delve into the building's rich history by listening to your guide’s commentary (entrance optional) and then embark on an explorative walking tour of Ghent to see the city’s most legendary landmarks.

Meander through charming streets to the Castle of the Counts of Flanders (Gravensteen), St. Nicholas’ Church, and the ancient port of Graslei as your guide recounts local legends and entertaining anecdotes.

After your enriching tour, return to your vehicle and travel to the beguiling city of Bruges to witness more historical wonders.

On arrival, stroll the quaint cobbled streets of the UNESCO-listed city to Minnewater (Lake of Love) and revitalize with lunch at a café overlooking the beautiful body of water (own expense). Afterward, begin your walking tour of the splendid city and see cultural highlights like the City Hall, Market Square, and the Basilica of the Holy Blood.

Opt to see Bruges from a different perspective during an idyllic boat tour of the city’s winding waterways at your own expense. After thorough exploration, return to your comfortable vehicle and relax during the journey back to Brussels, where the tour concludes.

A medieval day
Patricia_V, Sept 2023
Ghent was a nice stop. I booked the trip because I wanted to visit Bruges but I actually preferred Ghent. Our guide was good and our group was on time for everything but maybe the pace of Bruges is a little hectic. That is the city and not the tour’s fault but it was very crowded and everyone was pushing to stay together. Glad I went though. I especially liked the use of radios to listen to the guide.
Good tour of two beautiful and historic cities
Warren_G, Sept 2023
A lot of walking but overall, a good tour. I did have some difficulty at times with static on the remote receiver the tour guide provided.
NORLIA_E, Sept 2023

A total miss !!beautiful cities bad tour!
Michael_D, Sept 2023
Tour guide was not very engaging and couldn’t understand much of his dialect. Part of the group (2 people) spoke a different language so we had to wait for multiple translation. Was a long day the cities were beautiful but tour didn’t do it justice!! Don’t waste your time on this excursion!!!

Ghent and Bruge Tour found lacking
Gregdoyle, Sept 2023
Ghent and Bruges, coach was decent. Guide was sub-par. Heavily accented and awkward English, zero passion or interest in his presentation. Spent a lot of time in French for the 2 French speaking people. Did not even nention the Ghent castle, did not point out toilet on bus, no mention of what to do if separated. We’ve done many Viator tours all over the globe. This was not the worst but Viator needs better quality control with the vendors tgey select.
amazing tour
Laura_R, Sept 2023

Exploring Belgium In A Whole New Light
Azi_I, Sept 2023
Veronica was AMAZING! Extremely knowledgeable about Bruges and Ghent! She made the trip very fun to do. I liked that she gaved us the option to stay with her or explore on our own. Wonderful tour that I would recommend to anyone who wants to explore Belgium!
Absolute must
Bella_C, Sept 2023
I had Miguel as the guide, he was a genuinely nice guy. Great commentary packed full of information. Really good day.
Gent & Bruges Tour
Annette_M, Sept 2023
Gent was lovely and Bruges was interesting also but very busy. Really enjoyed Gent and would have been nice to stay a bit longer. The found the tour very tiresome as the guide had to explain everything in English & French, therefore twice each time. I thought the tour would have better in English only or applicable one language per group. The guide was therefore not very approachable regarding non standard questions.
Beautiful day in Bruges
Lucy_L, Sept 2023
A very organised and interesting tour. Our tour guide Bruno was very knowledgeable and friendly. Bruges was gorgeous and I highly recommend taking the optional boat tour at the end of the day.
Charming Cities!!
Kimberly_V, Sept 2023
Ghent and Bruges are charming and very beautiful!! The architecture is amazing and so much history here! Bruno was our guide and was great! These cities are definitely like a fairytale and I think everyone should take this tour when in Belgium!
Tiring but worth it
Judith_S, Sept 2023
The cities are very old and filled with many historical buildings. We especially liked Bruges. We definitely got our money’s worth. We did have a bit of difficulty understanding our guide sometimes because of his thick accent. I wouldn’t have booked this tour if I had realized how much walking would be involved since my husband and I were exhausted by the end ( we are 74 and 77 respectively), but we made it through and we’re glad we went
Beautiful, charming, historic, fun tour!
susan_r, Sept 2023
Loved the walking tours! Our tour guide Andrea was fantastic! Beautiful towns! A must see! I like the combination of exploring the towns on your own and being guided as well!
Two beautiful cities in Belgium
Michael_J, Sept 2023
Our guide Bruno gave us a great tour and told us so much about these two cities. Ghent and Bruges were beautiful medieval cities. We loved the boat ride too.
CHRISTOS_C, Sept 2023
walking to all paths of Bruges is an amazing experience. so romantic . is like falling in love. i strongly recommend it
Sublime architecture and history
Frank_S, Sept 2023
Learning about and feeling the rich history of both medieval towns, Ghent and Bruges. We appreciated the distinctive architecture of each. It was fun to take the boat ride through the canals of Bruges and then spend time in the central plaza of Bruges, the setting for the great movie, In Bruges, which we saw just two weeks before
