Overview

Journey into the tropical rain forest near Puerto Plata to explore the 27 Waterfalls of Damajagua, a series of cascading waterfalls, canyons, and bright azure pools. This excursion was so much fun. Our host Alexander was great and friendly. He was very knowledgeable and even gave us alittle history about the area. The waterfalls were so beautiful and the instructors are within Covid 19 safety guidelines. They made sure everyone was safe and had fun. They also offer someone to take pictures at an affordable price. Our photographer Raul caught good pictures to remember this moment. The lunch was great and the staff was very friendly. If you want a fun adventurous day I would recommend booking while visiting Dominican Republic. A great host, Transportation , and delicious lunch you can’t beat the experience.

Good trip for everyone

The falls are beautifully set in the mountain. The hike is easy to do with well paved trails to walk. Regardless of if you jump or slide or use the stairs, it is a fun trip for everyone. We booked the full 27 waterfalls but were only offered 7 on the day of the trip due to lack of rain. If you want to do the 27 one you have to come during the rainy season which is from Jan. to March. The tour guides, two from the park and one from the tour company, did a good job to keep everyone together. I would say the guides from the park did majority of the job. We lost our GoPro during a jump but fortunately one of the guides got it back for us. So do your prep before the jump!

Beautiful Hike up and Awesome Waterfall Jumps/Slides down

I would avoid doing the first "rock jump" as it is just a large slippery rock and is not really a necessary part of the hike/experience. I slipped (experienced hiker) and my friend tore her meniscus on it. Other than that, the hike and waterfall experience down was amazing! Beautiful and the team that goes up with you are amazing!

I was so impressed and grateful for the staff that made this an enjoyable and kept us safe. My friend is comfortable with water but they made her feel safe and helped her relax most importantly have fun. They helped us finding our feeting on the hike down. They were very considerate and polite.

Must Do - Beautiful View

Due to the pandemic and the seasonal timing of there being a drought which closed half the park, we were able to experience around half of the waterfalls as a solo couple. The vendors catered to us, providing a delicious meal and plenty of rum and coke. There was a cool and affordable souvenir shop as well. Of all the excursions we did in Puerto Plata, this is the one we would we do over and over again.

This experience was so much fun and breathtaking views. First time visiting DR and this was one of the highlights our trip. Our driver Fernando took us to the location safely and our tour guy Alex was great with us the entire tour making sure we had the proper gear and we was safe jumping and sliding in the water. I would definitely Book this experience again when visiting hopefully I can do all 27 waterfalls next time.

We are so glad we did this! David, our guide from iguana mama was awesome! Friendly, funny, and down to earth. It was a hike to the top, but the once we jumped off the first waterfall it was well worth the journey. The water was cool and refreshing. The scenery was exquisite! We unfortunately could only do the 12 waterfalls as there wasn't enough water for the 27 waterfalls tour but they told us right away and gave us a refund. The hike was about 25 minutes into the waterfalls, had some uphill parts but everyone was able to manage. The guides were so helpful and very knowledgeable about the area. (Raul, David, Jordan and Omega) They showed us where to jump or slide. It was awesome, if you didn't want to do the jumps you could walk around. I would definitely recommend wearing shorts and a t-shirt, especially for women. The water is a little cool but very refreshing after the hike into it. The lunch that was provided after was good, buffet style with typical Dominican food. Definitely a must do if you're going to Puerto Plata!

This tour was amazing!!! My boyfriend and I chose to do the 12 waterfall tour and had such a blast that we wish we had completed the 27. Our tour guides, Raul and Robert, were fantastic and so helpful. Actually, all of the guides along the way were super helpful. Don't let the fact that you have to hike up to get to the waterfalls deter you from doing this, you will not regret it. I will say, there were two pretty high jumps and I backed out of one. But, you can walk around if you choose not to jump so there are options for everyone! I regret not paying the 50 for the personal paparazzi because I don't have any pictures to show from this excursion. The lunch after, and the rum, were a nice end to the trip.

Iguana Mama tours were excellent. We did the full 27 waterfalls. It was better than advertised. The hike up was a little strenuous, but is doable for most anyone. I do recommend that you wear the old running shoes they recommend. I wore water shoes with a thin sole and paid the price with bruised feet from walking through the river on uneven and sometimes sharp rocks.

We only did the 12 waterfall tour but the biggest thing that people need to know is the physical exertion needed for this trip. Dont attempt this if you are not in fairly decent shape. It is a challenging climb to get to the starting point and challenging hiking out after the waterfall tour is done. The other thing I did wrong is to have REALLY GOOD water shoes with very sturdy supportive soles or better yet running shoes that you are ok with getting wet. You have to walk over a lot of unsteady rocks through multiple river crossings etc. My feet were killing me after I finally got back. Having said that the tour guides are top notch, look after your safety, and adjust the pace if you are getting worn out. There is 2 for each group one ahead and one behind and they actually carried both mine and my brothers vest and helmet while we were hiking up to the start. I wish I had brought more money to tip them, they were easily worth 20.00 US each. You dont have to be a strong swimmer because you are wearing life jackets and a helmet and there is someone there when you jump etc and a lot of the walking from fall to fall is in water you can stand up in but again be warned that this is a physically enduring tour. I probably wouldnt attempt another one now that I know what is involved but having said that I am glad I did do it because jumping from a 25 or 30foot cliff into a pool of water is pretty exilerating.

My husband and I took our 15-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son on this excursion and we highly recommend it. The day was very well organized, the staff was both friendly and competent and the lunch at the end of the adventure was delicious. It was the highlight of our week! Bringing an extra set of clothes to change into after all of the swimming would make lunchtime, as well as the bus ride more comfortable.

Amazing! A MUST if you visit the Dominican Republic! We were supposed to have a small group of 6 in our tour but unfortunately, as soon as the hike started, a person in our group got sick so our tour guide ended up going with her and her husband and personally taking them back to their hotel. Our group got to mix and mingle with other groups so the small experience turned into a big group experience which isn't the worse thing but not ideal and things happen. Other than that this excursion was spectacular! We hiked up the mountain along side the 27 waterfalls and once we got to the top, we got to either jump or rock slide down them! All 27 waterfalls were active, not all were big enough to jump but the ones that were... boy oh boy were they fun! The guides made you feel safe and helped you every step of the way. I would suggest doing the paparazzi so that you don't have to worry about taking pictures or photos. Its costs 55 and they provide you with a flash drive of all the footage which we tested there to make sure the pics and videos were actually on there. And when we got home to view them... it was well worth it! Those who have a hard time hiking up hills or scared of heights or too chicken to jump a 30 ft waterfall, this excursion is probably not for you.. unless of course you want to just take pictures of all the waterfalls which are beautiful! Jumping and sliding down the rock slides, you might get scraped or bruised.. but don't worry.. it makes for good stories! After a long day of hiking and jumping, we had a nice Dominican lunch with chicken and rice and beans and drinks... so yummy! Definitely recommended!!!
