No, they aren’t they cheapest, but it’s a small group with lots of staff, the boat was well equipped and you get taken to the outer reef which is much quieter and the coral more intact.
The experience with a smaller group is priceless; we took three different trips to visit multiple reefs, and this one was BY FAR the best experience!
Coffee and tea available all day - muffins in the morning and delicious lunch buffet.

This was the best day out! The day at sea was choppy only because of the weather, but felt so confident with the staff on boat as they were with you the whole time assuring you. All of them were so professional. So well organised with the equipment, food and beverages. This is a fabulous day out and I would highly recommend it. I did the snorkel one. The underwater world was awesome! It’s like another world.
Being immersed under the sea is peaceful, relaxing and calming.

For someone who is terrified of the ocean (especially if I cannot see the bottom) I am super proud of myself for going scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef with Seastar Cairns tour group. I had only booked the snorkelling component of the tour, but was somehow, by some miracle convinced to join the scuba group. I honestly could not have done it without the encouragement of my guide/scuba instructor Kaila who was absolutely amazing, both professionally and informative, not to mention super patient with me. My first hiccup was my goggles, as they kept filling up with water. Finally after the fourth attempt, we found a perfect pair to fit my rather odd shaped face. By this time, I had already started to panic and I could feel my breathing getting quite rapid (my heart rate was around 75-80bpm which is verrrry high for me (I am usually around 35-45bpm). But, with some smooth talking and encouragement from my other group member, we proceeded down into the depths. Words cannot describe just how stunning the depths are. You will see stuff you may never have thought existed! I saw a reef shark and every size of fish imaginable. Weirdly enough, I kept looking around in a 360 degree motion (on high shark alert). Once I managed to get to I think 14 metres, I started playing a song inside my head to distract myself from my fears. It actually worked. To be frank, I think a few bad experiences accumulated overtime in my head and I have never dealt with it. Certainly not until recently. As my mother always taught me 'face your fears'. Exposure therapy has certainly worked for me in this case. I am back in Hobart now and have since bought a wetsuit + snorkel gear for some more adventures under the sea! Thank you to all the Seastar Cairns Crew 🙌 Highly recommend this tour. It is perfectly priced with so much included and loads of staff to give you a intimate experience. Snorkling at Hastings Reef was spectacular, Michaelmas Cay birds were awesome! Boat was efficiently run - felt safe and well informed. Would highly recommend.

We had such an amazing time. All of the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to make sure we were having a wonderful time. The day itself was planned well and there was a comfortable amount of people on the boat, it didnt feel too crowded. You have lots of time to snorkel in 2 locations for over 2 hours. You can also try scuba diving (even with no experiance) for an additional fee which was definitely worth the money, the diving instructor Tim was brilliant. Overall would highly recommend.

I had a great day with Seastar Cruisers exploring the Great Barrier Reef. The crew were awesome and very professional. They were informative and took great reef tours for a nervous snorkeler. The glass boat tour was also a great addition. They provided morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea which was a bonus! Highly recommend.

Overall Seastar provided a good experience I enjoyed, including knowledgeable crew, great locations and good food. Despite this, there is definitely room for improvement to be noted. Specific members of the staff prioritized flirting with a group of girls on board. This included making plans for later that evening as well as giving them their phone numbers (upon request from the girls) in front of the majority of other guests on board. I found this to be incredibly unprofessional. Additionally, there were one too many jokes made during the safety briefings. I personally had no fears regarding the experiences but feel as though if someone is fearful of boats or sharks etc the commentary would leave them feeling very unsafe. I think all of these behaviours are fixable moving forward and would then feel as though I could recommend the company to friends/family.

We had a great day out with Seastar crew despite the rough conditions. Checkin was quick and efficient. Staff were enthusiastic, informative & attentive & keen for everyone to enjoy their experience on the reef. We visited Michaelmas Cay & Hastings reef, both sites were amazing and quite different to each other. A nice touch that crew took photos throughout day and shared them with passengers. We would definitely recommend this trip.

Everyone in the crew was so friendly, helpful and full of life. We were also aloud the freedom to go off in the snorkelling zones ourselves and still feel safe to do so having heaps of crew on the boat watching over us. This was the best experience. The group of people snorkelling was kept to a smaller amount which made it a lot more fun.
