What To Expect

Customize your full-day Great Barrier Reef adventure to suit your style and preference, whether you’re an experienced diver or a novice. On the morning of your tour, make your way to Marlin Wharf in Cairns and climb aboard a luxurious 95-foot (29-meter) catamaran equipped with restrooms, fresh-water showers, and spacious sun decks. Head out into the Coral Sea and enjoy the aquatic landscape on the ride to the first of three dive sites, which may include Flynn Reef, Thetford, and Milln.

At booking, choose how you’d like to explore the reef. Slip on a snorkeling mask and fins if you prefer to stay near the surface, or go deeper with a scuba dive. Beginning divers can take one of two introductory dives, and experienced divers can complete up to three certified dives throughout the day.

All equipment is provided, and guides are on hand to provide instruction and ensure your safety. Whatever you choose, expect to spend ample time in the water observing the reef’s famous marine life including coral formations, tropical fish, anemones, and sea turtles.

In between dives, recharge with morning and afternoon tea breaks and enjoy a delicious buffet lunch midday. Purchase a drink from the full onboard bar if you like, and soak up the tropical sun on the return trip to Cairns, where your tour concludes in the afternoon.

Silverswift Dive & Snorkel

Your day begins as you board the boat at Marlin Wharf. The ultra modern 29 meter catamaran will be your base for the day. Throughout the day you'll visit three different locations which may include Thetford, Milln and Flynn Reef. Each stop showcases a different aspect of the beautiful Great Barrier Reef. At each site you have the choice to snorkel, dive or a combination of both. We recommend you book this reef trip on your first full available day. You then have the opportunity to be flexible and change your travel date if you wish. Your booking can be changed at no additional cost directly with the operator once you are in Cairns. Prebook and secure your booking, but relax in knowing you can make amendments at no charge.

Great Barrier Reef

Snorkel or dive at some of the best known dive sites off Cairns such as Flynn, Milln and Thetford reefs for their abundance of marine life. The sites offer excellent wall dives, swim-throughs and overhangs, great for both novice and experienced divers. you can expect to see an abundance of fish species, hard corals such as staghorn, table, plate and boulder coral, and many species of soft corals.

After a single scuba dive a wait of 12 hours is recommended before ascending to an altitude of 300 metres or greater. If doing multiple dives an interval of 24 hours is suggested.

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
This experience requires good weather. If it’s cancelled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

The Great Great Barrier Reef

My wife and I went for an introductory scuba dive. It was fantastic! We also snorkelled twice. The reef had so much color and there were fish everywhere! The crew was very organized and efficient. We were on a large boat, which helped alleviate sea sickness. The food was quite good with several options and snacks available throughout the day including fresh fruit!

The boat was well staffed and they were all super friendly. A pretty decent spread was offered for lunch too, so you definitely won’t go hungry. Cairns delivered great weather that day so the crew took us to a reef that they don’t often get to visit so that was a bonus. In transit they also provided a talk to provide more knowledge on the reefs. Really well organized between getting the divers vs snorkelers out and back in, and we felt very safe. All equipment was provided. Bring a go pro or waterproof camera is a MUST. You’ll definitely have fun with this crew. Thank you team!!

Spectacular experience scuba diving in the GBR!

What an amazing time scuba diving for the first time in the Great Barrier Reef! Unlike the previous tour that took us to green island, this tour went directly to Flynn reef so we could maximize our time at the reef. And boy was the reef spectacular. We were so much closer to all the coral and wildlife. Plus had thorough instruction and 4:1 diver to instructor guidance when doing the introductory dive. Loved it so love that we did another dive right after! Thanks to Scott and the whole crew for an amazing time! Highly recommend!!!

Brillant trip with great staff. Did two introductory dives. Highly recomend doing the second dive as the first one more consintated on skills and getting used to the equipment. You still see loads on the first dive but you just have a lot of freedom on the second dive which is amazing and you can bring a camera on the second dive.

Awesome day of snorkeling despite some weather

It was a rough day at sea for some, but we were fine. The crew did a great job caring for passengers who didn't fair so well. The current around the reef was strong, but life jackets and lycra suits were provided in addition to other snorkel gear. Even though there was weather forecasted, the trip went as planned. They took us to some great locations to see abundant coral and sea life. The marine biologists gave a great presentation and optional guided tour. Lunch and snacks aboard were extraordinary.

Great experience! Would highly recommend. One of us did 3 snorkels, the other did 1 intro dive and 2 snorkels. The crew picked great sites and we felt safe and secure in their hands. Customer service off the boat (Thank you Joel and Gaby!) was also fantastic. Generous lunch. Would recommend taking motion sickness medication before getting on the boat.
