What To Expect

After morning hotel pickup, your informative guide takes you sightseeing and shopping around Cancun. During a guided tour, learn about its history and enjoy free time to appreciate the ruins on your own.

Back in your air-conditioned vehicle, continue to ‘Celso’ at Market 28, where you can enjoy an authentic marketplace experience. Barter with local vendors offering handcrafted artifacts at flea-market-type shops, and score duty-free prices on brand names at designer stores. Pick up real silver from Taxco at the best prices!

Next, go sightseeing and enjoy some of Cancun’s landmarks, including those in the downtown district and hotel zone. Travel along Boulevard Kukulcan for views of Cancun hotels, clubs, and marinas. Awful tour, not professional- it was like a couple of guys off the street started it that day without a plan

We had three excursions during our trip to Mexico, two were very professional and enjoyable...then there was this one... We knew that we made a mistake about 5 mins into the tour, but stuck it out as we had paid and hoped that it would redeem itself. Bright yellow open top bus with loud (and I mean really loud) party music playing the whole time. Our main guide spoke to us like a DJ in a cheesy club - "Party people in the house!! When I say cheekos, you say Yooooow!!!" There were 8 of us and we were the youngest being 40s, everyone else were over 60 - need to judge your audience. Also 95% sure the guide was drunk, he was even doing part of the tour while drinking a can of Corona. Could barely hear any of the tour over the music and what we did hear was pretty boring "There use to be a golf course there...there's a hotel, there's another hotel". We wanted our guides to take us to a traditional market so we could shop for nice items, but they just took us to a tourist trap of overpriced tat (clearly his mates), and we were stuck there for over an hour with shop owners following us around trying to sell us mass produced crap made in China for crazy prices. Even when we repeatedly asked to be left alone or have privacy, they ignored it and kept following us. From there, they took us to a huge tourist shop stocked full of the same crap we spent an hour looking at before, but this time the guide had changed into a sombrero and mexican poncho, asking us to dance every time we got off the bus (again, older tourists on bus, didn't want to do this, especially as other tourists were laughing at us). It highlighted a trip to the Tequila museum but this never happened (not even sure there is a real Tequila museum in Cancun?) I can't imagine Viator keeping links to this tour for much longer, it makes them look really cheap and bad. Don't go on this tour and definitely don't recommend it to people... unless you hate them.

Memorable tour!

Our tour guide was kind and expressed a good sense of welcoming and good sense of humor. I believe his name was Mario. We enjoyed our stops at two different local shopping markets, but mostly the beautiful beachfront at the end where we were able to take a picture in front of the Cancun sign. The line was quite long and we had limited time. We used our selfie stick and stood right in front to take our pictures which allowed greater distance of entire sign. Worked wonders!

Drive Yourself and Save Some Time

Picked up, driven to two different shopping locations, about 15-20 min of actual commentary on the history in Cancun, and driven back to our hotel. There was more driving picking passengers up than the actual tour. The driver cited traffic and construction as the problem for not being on time but I think they should’ve been more prepared. Also, they left people at the Cancun sign. The biggest problem I had was we were picked up in a van and delivered to another bus by Mercado 28. We got on the bus, went to another shopping location and then the Cancun sign. Afterwards, the driver proceeded to drop everybody off on the bus at their hotel. We didn’t pick those people up so our five hour tour turned into about nine hours. I don’t understand why the bus driver didn’t pick up the van he dropped us off in and pick us up at the Cancun sign then return us to our hotel. I would not recommend this tour.

The time in the van can always be less according to the hotel where you´re staying, hotels in Riviera Maya that can be up to 2hrs drive will make you see that the tour is longer (like your case, 9hrs), if you add another two or three resorts on the way of course it will be a whole day tour. About the commentary on the bus, we´ll make sure to let our guides know about your review, am sure thet won´t happen again. There is alot of construction and repaving in the city and high way in Cancun, so that is also been cousing many delays. Whilst in Mexico, we booked a tour to Cancun, for the next day. The booking confirmed a pick up time of 09.00 am the next morning. At 10.44 pm the driver emailed to change the collection time to 07.25am. We missed the email as it was sent overnight. We arrived at the reception at 09.00 am the next morning, as per the booking. The driver had already been and Viator will not refund our money. It's unreasonable to sell a tour, confirm a time and change overnight. This amendment should not be to our financial detriment!!

I don't recommend. We were stopped at a little shop that was highly priced. It all was a complete scam.The store was managed by someone the tourist knows. We stopped at the mall for the tequila museum another scam. The tequila tasting was a joke. We stayed there an hour. No time to do any shopping at near by stores.The last stop was at the Cancun sign where we were told we had 5 minutes to take pictures but there was a long line that may take 20 minutes to get our turn at the sign. It was a complete waste of time. I highly recommend not wasting your time... Nor your money

The whole tour was excellent! Pickup was right on time, and everyone was so friendly and fun! We went through the city, with the guides giving wonderfully interesting commentary throughout. Stopped at a shop in Mercado 28, yhrre were free samples of tequila...the chocolate tequila was veeeery nice! Then to the tequila museum to learn a little about how its made, and more samples. Then to Playa Delfines for a photo of at the Cancùn sign. We had already done this in the morning, it was our pickup spot, so they made a slight detour and dropped us off at our hotel. Altogether a fantastic way to spend the morning and early afternoon!!
