Felt like family! Tour is a must!

Aldaberto was an amazing tour guide. He made us feel like family was giving us a tour of Cartegena. His English was perfecto and took time to help us understand Spanish. Our tour was a mix of historical and personal perspectives and we thoroughly enjoyed his company. We are definitely going to request Aldaberto the next time we come back.

We have been to Cartagena multiple times and signed up for this food tour to do something different. Our tour guide, Adalberto, provided clear instructions for the meeting place. The tour started on time and we visited some side streets we have not visited before that provided some nice photo ops. We totally enjoyed the local foods we tried. Unfortunately, the rain poured and the sewer backed up and an unpleasant odor filled the streets. We ended the tour early because of the non-stopping downpour. We will definitely sign up for this tour again for our next Cartagena visit.

The walking tour with Adalberto was excellent. The itinerary he planned was both varied and interesting. He was very knowledgeable in the history of Cartagena, the food and the different areas. We had been to Cartagena before but Adalberto was a treasure trove of knowledge about both the area and it's history and we learned new and interesting facts and tried some new local dishes. Great city tour

A lovely, very thorough guided tour of the best bits of Cartagena. This isn’t a food tour, more of a tour with authentic food stops on route. Our guide was excellent. If you’re doing a port stop, this is a great way to see the city privately and avoiding the madding crowds.

Fun, but not fantastic if you are a real foodie

Our guide, Jhon, was fantastic with a great can do attitude. However, the tour itself was only average, by no fault of Jhon. We thought we would get arepas from a vendor making them on the street. Instead, we sat down at an establishment. The arepas were good, but not great. The fruit salad was very refreshing. However, we thought we would experience fruits that are not common in the United States. That was not the case. We only had watermelon, banana, papaya, and pineapple. The stop for seafood ceviche was the highlight. That truly was street food. We would never in our wildest dreams have stopped there on our own. It was fantastic. The candies were only OK, and all pre packaged so we didn’t really get a choice of what to taste. It was fun to walk around and ask questions, but I feel like we didn’t learn anything about Cartagena food that we did not know other than stopping at the ceviche street vendor on the side of the road. But I would give Jhon five stars as a guide. He was great. His company just needs a better tour for real foodies.

Regarding the places where we stop, we are aware that some tourists prefer not to stop at street places, and in order to guarantee the hygiene of the vendors and the food we stop at local stores. This was a unique and super fun experience. Mr. Adalbeeto Gonzalez was our guide and I don't know what he gets paid, he should be given a raise. He was patient, incredibly knowledgeable, resourceful and very polite. In a country where English speaking locals is a bit of a premium, he spoke crystal clear English, was engaging and kept a really nice balance between hitting up the fun food tasting spots, showing us around the history of interesting spots (like local legends, graffiti, monuments), great places to take pictures and even find a park where we got to see could of sloths, monkeys and iguanas. Overall, it was a fun and engaging tour and I'd highly recommend, especially with Mr. Gonzalez

Cartagena Street food tour

Great street food tour with Adalberto, which my husband and I took as a a cruise offshore excursion on our own. All the foods where from established street vendors from arepas, fruit shakes, coconut candies, shrimp cocktail. No getting sick; no nothing. Adalberto took us around the walled city and told us about the history. My husband and I were interested in drinking famous Colombian coffee and he took us to a cafe, which is not included in the tour. However, we appreciate his flexibility in this. Would be nice if the tour included coffee since it was so good! Overall, great tour! Thank you!
