We had such a great time and our guide was awesome. We saw several different kinds of monkeys and birds. He pointed out things that we would’ve easily missed. He gave us a new appreciation for everything in the forest and took the time to awaken our senses to the things around us. The food provided was very good too. A must see for nature lovers.
Get out there!

Outstanding! Olinto has great communication and was on time picking us up. The hike exceeded expectation allowing us to learn about not only the macro elements in the forest, but also all the small stuff. Pace was intentionally slow so not to miss anything. Meals and transportation spot on. All of this is only an hour from Cartagena and needs to be on your bucket list.
Awesome Hike with Olinto!

Two friends and I went with Olinto to this dry tropical forest and it was wonderful! Olinto was an excellent guide-he was so very passionate about teaching people about the forest! He pointed out many plants, insects and animals along the way. We saw some oropenula birds and one nest, many red howler monkeys, a baby sloth, never-ending butterflies, a toucan and about 6 cotton topped tamarinds! It was definitely a trip to remember.
Olinto was an excellent guide and we were so happy to meet Marina who joined us that day! They took very good care of us and did everything they could to make it a wonderful experieince (which it was!)! There was a part of the hike where it was pretty steep and rocky and a bit treacherous for those with poor balance but it was so worth the effort. It was great and I hope to go on another tour with them while I'm here!
A great opportunity to...

A must book, and doable for just about anyone! We had so much fun getting out of the city for the day. We got lucky and saw multiple types of monkeys, a sloth, many birds, butterflies, spiders, and beetles. The scenery was beautiful and all of the food delicious. Olinto is very kind, organized, and knowledgeable about the experience. You will have a great day with him!
Educational, beautiful, and good exercise

The hike was amazing. We learned about the eco system of the forest. We saw the tiniest creatures. Prior to this hike, I did not understand what all is involved in an eco system.
Seeing the monkeys was amazing.
The hike itself is great physical activity. It is great exercise.
Take this hike!

This was quite the adventure! We were picked up early morning and provided an egg arepa for breakfast on the road. The trail entrance to begin the hike was about an hour's drive from Cartagena. Once there, we were provided rubber boots which were definitely needed and appreciated since this is the rainy season. We sloshed through thick mud and water, hiked through well defined wooded trails, climbed some rocky hills, and crossed over a stream. There was a lot of wildlife to be seen, from tiny insects (soo many colorful butterflies) to cotton top tamarins and howler monkeys. We were also able to spend some time with a local family that lives on the property. They gave us coconut water and mangos to refuel for the hike back to the truck (it was basically a loop). We stopped for lunch at a roadside restaurant on the way back to the city. This was a great way to get back to nature and do something "different." And the opportunity to see wild monkeys was pretty cool!
Beautiful family hike!

The forest inside the National park was absolutely beautiful! Other than Olinto and the two local guides, we didn’t see any other hikers for the whole day. Olinto was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. We saw lots of wildlife…insects, monkeys, plants, lizards, and even an adorable turtle! He was nice enough to take several pictures of my family. He provided a delicious and filling breakfast and lunch. If you are wondering if you should take the hike, do it!

I really enjoyed my trip, I didn’t think that there were such great forests near Cartagena. The drive is about an hour outside of the city, the landscape completely transforms. The hike is great, there is so much wildlife and plant life to experience, I was in complete shock at how much exists so near to Cartagena. Olinto is a resourceful guide who really knows the fauna and flora, making sure to point out interesting sights and wildlife. A local guide also accompanied us and he was also really knowledgeable about what was safe for me to taste and how local people use some of the plants. We had a good lunch nearby and had great conversation about culture and food. It was one of the best things that I had done in Cartagena, if you’re a nature person, you’ll love this experience.
Exactly what we wanted, better than we expected

We had such a great time hiking through the tropical forest. The monkeys, plants, experience as whole was one to remember. We had a taste of Colombian agriculture and culture. The professional photos taken were the cherry on top. We enjoyed the tour guides company and expertise, they were both very knowledgeable. Definitely recommend!!
Howling hike was worth every dime
