This was an amazing Tour & highly recommend. Had a private driver for my family of four who picked us up at our Hotel in Taormina. Driver was incredible who made multiply stops along way prior to getting to Mt Etna to walk t our pleasure. We then headed to stop at small honey farm that included wine tasting & other pickings. After we went to Gambino Winery which was Beautiful & had a lunch with wine tastings. It was more like typical Italian Pickings which were great but included plenty of wine. Definitely a Must Tour To Do. Viator, Hands down is a Top Notch Company. I have used in Aruba, Costa Rica & Now Sicily. Don’t Hesitate.

I really liked the number of different activities included in this tour. Richard was a terrific guide, he was attentive, shared a lot of information with us about Sicily and really made sure we were having fun and enjoying the day. The visit to Mount Etna was breathtaking, there are shorter and longer more difficult hiking options. The visit to the honey processing store was great because you could try a lot of different interesting honeys as well as other local products. The winery was beautiful and the tasting was excellent. It was accompanied by different antipasti. I would recommend this tour.

Giuseppe is clearly an experienced guide and you can hear it right from the moment he starts talking about Mt. Etna. He answered all of our questions and let us explore the area at our own pace. The winery was also a great experience, with tasty lunch and a variety of wines.

5 star day but with communication bumps along the way

Communication is key between a tour operator and their clients to say that this operator is incapable of communication pretty much sums it up. We contacted the tour operator the day before departure to confirm our address and ask when we could expect them to arrive to collect us. There was no response. The booking showed a pickup window of between 8-14:00....quite the window. A little after 8 I sent a whatsapp message to Viator asking for help. With no immediate reply (reply came via that method after about a half hour) I called the 800 customer service line. They did answer and called the tour operator on our behalf. The guide was on the way....great! The guide explained he was filling in for someone....fine. The tour was going well and we made several stops to view Etna in all its splendor. When we stopped for lunch at Gambino Winery (which their lunch paired with wine was the highlight of the trip) our guide announced he was leaving us and someone else (not introduced) would take us back to our apartment in Taormina. We were stunned....why was this not communicated upfront? We had no idea who our new guide would be and we were plotting that we would have to ask the winery to call us a taxi. At the end of the lunch and tour of the winery, a gentleman came up and introduced himself as our new driver. The day itself was a 5 star event but their lack of simple communication calls for a downgrade. We have used Viator for years and done dozens of tours with their service. This is the first time we have experienced this type of event.

Very professional driver and knowledgeable guide, Mercedes van , unfortunately, we had one of those days where it rained all day and rain very hard when we were on the top of the mountain. It was too wet to get out and hike, or go further up the mountain ,weather improved when we got to the winery. Beautiful building and setting, knowledge hosts, beautiful food that was unfortunately too salty.

A great combination of sightseeing around Mount Etna and tasting the wines of the region. We really enjoyed the private tour with our guide Ricardo, who was very knowledgeable of the area. We learned a lot. The tasting at the Gambino winery was wonderful! Whether you are staying in Catania or Taormina, it is worth the time spent on the tour. Prepare for the weather and some windy roads up the mountain.

Could be a better guide

It was ok on the whole but we felt that the guide didn’t share that much history or facts if the volcano or winery. We didn’t get to go to the honey farm cos he said it was crowded. When we went to teh fester, he just waited for us at the shop. At the winery he did the same. Wine was awesome but food was really quite pathetic. Few pieces of cheese, ham, Cous Cous and 1 sausage. I paid almost SG600 for 2 person for this tour.
