Our tour guide Elisa was from Italy, but moved to Mexico and was so fun and informative! You start with a one-hour van ride which goes way faster than you think. Then the beautiful relaxing waters of the lagoon. We had a small group, so we were able to move pretty quickly up to the north end of the lake and then into several little inlets of water surrounded by lush vegetation and some interesting birds. Then we paddled back out into the open lagoon. There was some wind, so we definitely got a workout, but Elisa was patient with anyone who needed a rest. As we approached midday, the sun was almost directly overhead and you could really start to see the colors of the lagoon popping! Bright greens and blues, beautiful. Then we went up to the private beach for tacos and drinks. I don't drink, but they also had horchata (rice milk) and jamaica (hibiscus), which were amazing. The tacos, which are all you can eat, were INCREDIBLE!!!! Loaded full of delicious chicken with peppers and onions, with 4 choices of salsa to try on them! Then you can just relax on the beach. I actually fell asleep and just napped in the shade with the water lapping up near my feet. Highly recommend this excursion. When you factor in the tacos, it's an outstanding price!

The ride to the resort was a little long. One hour, but Elliott our tour guide was full of lots of information about the area and Mayan Culture. Once we got to the lagoon, we were delighted at how beautiful it was. We had our very own cabana right on the water. The lunch provided was delicious chicken and pork tacos on a home made corn tortilla. Each tour guide worked hard to make our visit special.

Thank you Native Choice Tours and our fabulous guide, Elliot Estrada, for the most awesome tour ever! Elliot was so professional and knowledgeable about Mayan culture, history of the area, and native plants and cooking. The lagoon was just beautiful and the kayaking a lot of fun, even for inexperienced kayakers. The lunch was cooked by locals with fresh ingredients and it was delicious. We could not have asked for a better experience!

Wow, what a nice relaxing day! We loved this excursion and it was a welcome respite after some very physically tiring excursions. The lagoon is gorgeous and we enjoyed the kayaking! We were the first group to arrive for the day so we got our first choice of seats which was awesome. The taco lunch was delicious and the drinks were perfect. My girls loved that they offered horchata!

about an hour to get there but nice lagoon. lunch was good only bad part was our guide left us when we got there and then disappeared until the very end. all the other guides were helping there guests out. didn't ruin it but thought it was a little strange and not sure where he went

The ride is about an hour and we had Eric and Elliot. Elliot is so intelligent and knowledgeable about the area and culture. We were there before we knew it because of him. He taught us about Mayan culture and math as well. Definitely recommend this tour and him. The lagoon was beautiful and the food was incredible. I can’t say enough good things about it.

The Bacalar Lagoon is absolutely beautiful! The lunch and drinks provided were great and the location cannot be beat! Elliot was super knowledgeable, friendly and very accommodating. The only small issue we had was that we never got to do a guided kayak tour. There were a limited number of kayaks and there was no organization to what group went at what time. By the the time we got to kayak, we only had about 20-25 minutes before we had to leave and did not get a guided tour which was a bummer for our group. All in all, though, it was a great day and a phenomenally beautiful place!

Worse Day I ever had in Mexico

First off lake doesn't not have 7 colors It has 2, six flags green and murky. Kayaks really old and a couple sank. Life jackets dirty. Tour guides are rude and bossy especially the woman. Wife asked for a beer and they were out an hour into the tour. The place was way over booked not enough of chairs or kayaks most of the time your waiting. I didnt eat the tacos after being aggressively jumped by the woman for going to eat when i was told to by a guy working there. Couldn't wait to get back to ship. Worse excursion I've done in 40 years of traveling.

Erick was an amazing tour guide! The weather was not the best the day of our excursion and due to choppy waves we unfortunately did not do any kayaking. Erick made sure we were okay the whole time and provided us luxury service and answered any questions we had while giving us time to relax in the lovely resort. They served the most amazing authentic tacos at lunch. The al pastor meat was delicious!! Even though the weather was sub par, it was a great experience. Highly recommend!

Most amazing place in Costa Maya!

This was the most amazing day is Costa Maya! I would do this excursion every time I visit! This resort on Bacalar Lagoon is very private & secluded, but we felt very safe with Eric, our Native Choice travel guide, & Abner, our driver. We just happened to have the whole place to ourselves, as it was a slow day. Eric took us kayaking on the lagoon, then we swam, relaxed in our tiki hut lounge chairs, & were served a delicious fajita lunch with virgin Pina coladas! The setting is truly a tropical paradise! Eric was so knowledgeable on the history, geography, & culture of Mahahual & the surrounding area. It made the 1 hour bus ride to & from the port fly by! Do know that if you are ona cruise ship, they will do what they need to do to get you back to port on time. For us, that meant a shorter excursion, but it was wonderful just the same. Sure, we would have loved to spend 3 hours at the lagoon, but there just wasn't time. We were treated like royalty & would do this over and over again. (Bring cash to tip these guys well - they deserve it!)

Pineapple and Resort Paradise

We had a quick walk from port to the very nice kiosk. The van ride was smooth and easy. Elio kept us entertained with stories about the Mayan civilization and he also led the kayak tour. We all had a great time. My daughter’s kayak filled with water and we didn’t know it. Elio had to paddle ahead of the whole group, get a rope, and paddle back so he could tow her. Our leg of the kayak trip took longer than others because of this but no complaints even with her having to paddle harder than the rest of us. It was beautiful, the food was delicious, and it felt like we had the resort to ourselves. On the way back, we stopped at a roadside vendor and got the best pineapple we’ve ever eaten.

INVIGORATING KAYAKING, UNBEATABLE TACOS!!

Our tour guide Elisa was from Italy, but moved to Mexico and was so fun and informative! You start with a one-hour van ride which goes way faster than you think. Then the beautiful relaxing waters of the lagoon. We had a small group, so we were able to move pretty quickly up to the north end of the lake and then into several little inlets of water surrounded by lush vegetation and some interesting birds. Then we paddled back out into the open lagoon. There was some wind, so we definitely got a workout, but Elisa was patient with anyone who needed a rest. As we approached midday, the sun was almost directly overhead and you could really start to see the colors of the lagoon popping! Bright greens and blues, beautiful. Then we went up to the private beach for tacos and drinks. I don't drink, but they also had horchata (rice milk) and jamaica (hibiscus), which were amazing. The tacos, which are all you can eat, were INCREDIBLE!!!! Loaded full of delicious chicken with peppers and onions, with 4 choices of salsa to try on them! Then you can just relax on the beach. I actually fell asleep and just napped in the shade with the water lapping up near my feet. Highly recommend this excursion. When you factor in the tacos, it's an outstanding price!
