Overview

The Bacalar Lagoon was once a haven for Caribbean pirates but has become one of the Yucatan's most beautiful places to visit. Join a small group and take a guided tour from Costa Maya to the 7-colored lagoon for a day of swimming and exploring. Our guide was Octavio and our driver was Chucky. Actually this tour was canceled because we were the only two going. Since there was another tour similar to this one so instead of just going to Bacalar they put us on a tour with Bacalar and Chacchoben tour and they didn't charge us more. Bacalar was beautiful and swimming was wonderful. Chacchoben was also great. What made this tour so wonderful was our guide Octavio, very knowable and friendly and caring. It made the tour worth every penny spent. The lunch was also excellent. There was about 10 of us on this tour.

Beautiful Lagoon

It was worth the drive! About 1 1/2 hrs. Our guides were fabulous, freshly cut pineapples and plenty of drinks. The lagoon is beautiful, we loved swimming and the views! We had tacos freshly made on the way home, yum!

Tino was an excellent tour guide. He made this experience one that I will never forget! Although we were expecting a different tour, he clarified why our tour was amended and it ended up working out great! My only negative feedback would be for the tour company to be more specific about which activity you're going to get on what day (example:book on Wednesdays and you only get the beach club and not a tour of the lagoon). Due to the description of the tour, we were expecting both for our Tuesday trip.

This was by far one of my favorite excursions! Gabby did such an amazing job telling us the history and making this trip memorable. The lagoon is magical and something you don’t want to miss! The tacos are authentic and were literally one of the best meals I had this week! I was super worried about getting back to port on time and they made sure we got back in plenty of time!

Perfect relaxation excursion!!!

RELAXATION - 10!! This was a perfect relaxation spot for our whole family. Floating in the gorgeous blue waters of Bacalar lagoon was amazing. Our guide, Tino, took great care of us! He cut up fresh honey pineapple that he picked up ant a local stand on our drive and made us local cocktails while we enjoyed the cool lagoon waters. On our way back to the shop, we stopped at a local restaurant where he had pre ordered our lunch at our request so everything was waiting for us. He explained all the local sauces for the tacos and we enjoyed a truly delicious meal. The pork tacos were everyone’s favorite! If you get a chance, ask for Tino, he is kind, friendly and takes excellent care of the whole family:)

Beautiful Lagoon

The Lagoon was beautiful, the water was clear blue. Our guide Leo was great, very helpful and informative. Unfortunately, visiting this place with a cruise doesn’t give you much time. Everything is precisely timed. However, it was a very nice excursion.

The tour guide Tino was there for our every need and knew alot about the location. The location was beautiful and the pictures matched what I saw online. We were so happy with our experience and it was an afternoon well spent. Our age ranges were from 70-14 and everyone had a blast.

This lagoon is like nothing I've ever seen before! Walking to the pick up spot was about 15 minutes. The company was there waiting for us with a cheerful greeting. Since there were only 4 of us, we were picked up in an suv. Our driver drove us to the spot where we could get in a pontoon. It is quite a drive with not much to look at. The area where you get on the pontoon is not real appealing. Don't use the bathroom there unless you have to! We had a beautiful tour on the pontoon and then he anchored and we were able to get in the water. It was amazing! It is so worth the drive! Our driver Lorenzo was very nice, very knowledgeable but not the most outgoing fella. We had to ask questions to get him to talk. Regardless, this trip is well worth it! Oh. One last thing, when they take your order for the tacos, they are very, very small. Order 4!

Best day ever!!! No one else booked our specific tour so we basically got a private tour experience. The drive from our cruise port to Bacalar felt like nothing because of Judith’s wealth of knowledge and fun energy! She truly was the highlight of the trip, I’ll forever remember tequila shots above crystal clear water and the perfect local’s guide to which hot sauces best pair with each taco. The tour company made everything so smooth and easy and we were back with plenty of time to return to our ship. Honestly, though, didn’t really want to back by that point! Between the drinks and the food and the fun in the sun…I could get used to that being my life! TLDR: It felt like more than a tour, it felt like hanging out with a super smart bestie all day and I can’t stress enough how GORGEOUS this lagoon is, WHAT A DAY!!!!!

I had a great experience on this excursion with Octavio and Moises. due to windy weather, our cruise had arrived to the port late, but they accommodated us very well even though it was a rush being in transit for three hours total. We had a great time at the lagoon and the food location that they had taken us to. the lagoon was beautiful and my family of twenty loved it. We had children, teens and adults. It was fitting for all ages.

Carolina and Baudelio were amazing guides during our entire excursion! They were so accommodating, knowledgeable, and just a fun duo to be around. We had an amazing time in the lagoon with the best drinks and snacks and we even stopped for fresh fruit (pineapple, mangoes, and bananas) on our way there. The tacos at Taco Loco were heaven! I can still taste those flavors - highly recommend this excursion!

Had a great time with Fabiola and her team. She is an extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic and FUN tour guide!! The tacos at El Tacos Locos were also amazing (I had fish, pork and beef) - make sure you try the salsas! My husband and I chose this tour as opposed to the cruise ship excursions and were very happy we did! Well worth it.

Fabiola did an amazing job as our tour guide. The transportation to the lagoon was in a clean, air conditioned van. We had a small group of 6 and was picked up right outside the cruise dock. The lagoon was beautiful! We had drinks and snacks while riding around and looking at the cenotes. Swimming in the lagoon was so relaxing. Lunch was your choice of 4 tacos, a bunch of different ones to choose from. We tried local fruit from a fruit stand and were brought back to the cruise dock with plenty of time before our ship left Costa Maya. Great excursion!
