Overview

Tino! He was such a fantastic tour guide who made our trip super memorable! He was the highlight of the day! Leo was equally great and taught us a lot of history at the Mayan ruins and we appreciated learning about the culture. The food was great, lots of snacks and drinks. The pontoon to Bacalar was an added bonus as we made our way to the most beautiful fresh water lagoon. The team made sure we got to the port on time! Loved our excursion and appreciate Tino and Leo for making our first trip to Costa Maya a great one!

Don’t miss this tour…the operator and tour guides are local to the region and very knowledgeable as to the culture of the sites you will visit. Our guide, Carolina, was exceptional. She walked us through…literally…the evolution of the area and the historic sites. The Bacalar site is amazing. On the way back to our cruise ship, our van got a flat tire. Knowing the participants had to get back got the dock or get left behind, our driver and the owner himself (who was nearby covering another tour) quickly stopped and changed the tire in record time, in sweltering heat/humidity and got everyone back to their ships with time to spare. This company goes the extra mile…highly recommended.

Leo was awesome. Very knowledgeable, fun, and easy to talk to. We weren’t able to see the Mayan Ruins due to getting off the ship later than planned. Leo more than made up for that. The food was amazing, the tequila shots kept coming, we stopped for fresh pineapple on the way, the cenotes were gorgeous, and we had the BEST margarita while swimming in the 7 colors Lagoon was breathtakingly beautiful. 10/10

Our tour guide Leo was awesome and very knowledgeable. He educated us about the history and background of Mayan culture on our way there. We had drinks, snacks and jokes all along and the Bacalar Lagoon was just fantastic. However I brought a big family with me with seniors and young kids. They do not move very fast. So I felt rushed in the first half of the tour. This is definitely not the tour guide’s fault. We had limited amount of time on the land and he had to make sure we made it back to the ship on time. So if you travel with kids or elderly people I recommend that you do Bacalar Lagoon tour only. It was a unforgettable experience.

Pickup location was a little hard to find but other than that the day was amazing!!! Our tour guide Leo was fantastic and so knowledgeable, the best part was the lagoon for sure! We spent plenty of time exploring and swimming in the lagoon, and the beer & tequila shots were definitely a plus! Tacos were also absolutely delicious, highly recommend this tour! Made our day in costa maya amazing!!!

Best Excursion and Guides EVER!

Best excursion ever with guide Judith and driver Saul. This is the way to have an excursion. Chac-Ek takes care of all the details on the trip down to the lunch, snacks, and even carrying water around with them while walking around Chacchoben for us. Went with my entire family - me, my wife, 4 sons (ages 10,13,15, and 17), sister-in-law, and mother-in-law and father-in-law ( in their mid-70s). Saul and Judith were both extremely attentive and wanted to assure everyone was having a great time. Chaccoben ruins were phenomenal and even though our guide Judith said the lagoon wasn’t the best day due to wind and choppy water, we were all still blown away. Highly recommend this excursion and these guides - never had a better one.

The most incredible experience! We had our kids ages 13,10 and 5.5 and we had a van all to ourselves. Skip the cruise buses! It was like a private tour! The pontoon boat on the lagoon was the most amazing thing we have ever seen and then we got the ruins nearly to ourselves! Our tour guide was SO sweet and amazing with my kids! Can’t recommend enough!

Seemed a bit far to walk from the port, the driver drove really fast, and the entire excursion felt rushed. Would have really preferred to see more of the lagoon rather than just swimming in it for over 2 hours.

This is a great small group tour ideal for cruise passengers. Our tour guide Leo and driver Chucky were both friendly and professional. Leo provided very interesting information about the ruins and the boat trip to the Bacalar was amazing. Beautiful scenery! A tasty Taco lunch and drinks, including Tequila and beer, were also included in the price.

Amazing trip, could stay in lagoon for hours!

Leo our guide and Chucky our driver were great! The ride to the lagoon was in a very comfortable modern A/C van and we learned a lot from Leo on the way. They met us right where they said they would outside of the port and since we were the first to arrive they even let us wait in the A/C van for the other couples to arrive. We waited for awhile on a couple that didn’t show but we eventually got moving at 10am, we arrived at 9:15. Once we made it to Bacalar, we got on the boat and looked at a few cenotes and Leo passed out snacks and tequila (lots of shots) and beer and then we had about 45 minutes to swim in the lagoon. After that we got back to the van and stopped for lunch at a cool taco spot; they had a lot of options and great hot sauces to try. The ruins were cool to see for the first time and Leo know a lot about everything. My only wish was that we had longer in the lagoon, so next time we will book their tour that only goes to the lagoon and skip the ruins. We were returned right at the entrance to the port at 5pm, 30 minutes before all aboard. Overall an amazing trip and I definitely recommend booking with them!

Beautiful Lagoon Will Make You Want To Return

This was a great excursion that we took from our cruise ship. We started with a one hour ride to the Bacalar Lagoon and boarded a pontoon boat for a tour of the lagoon. As soon as we left the dock, Leo, our guide opened the cooler and passed around cold drinks and beer to everyone, as well as shots of tequila for those who wanted them. After touring the lagoon, we anchored in waist deep, crystal clear water and had about an hour to swim and enjoy more drinks. Then we returned to the dock and had a delicious taco lunch at an outdoor restaurant. After lunch, we drove to the Chaccoben ruins for a guided tour there. The only thing keeping me from giving this tour 5 stars is because we had less than a half hour at the ruins and did not see a lot of them. That is because we waited over an hour for some stragglers to arrive from the ship for the start of the tour. The tour was supposed to start at 9:15 and we did not leave until 10:10.
